Bill Gates Starts Billion Dollar Climate Change Fund

Believe as you wish, I think the uncertainty on the variables is far greater than what the models account for.

Not exponentially greater. Even if given a percentage, it represents such a minor factor as to be insignificant. This is not to say to endeavor to learn exact numbers is a waste, merely that a modern model is not in jeopardy of gross miscalculation as a result of the factor.

If I was him and wanted to help the environment I'd make Tesla really liquid so they can start building lots of gigafactories, and lobby Ivanka for a carbon tax.

Tesla's are a mere 200k. We should all get electric mega-cars in the 2m range. We can trade them in for flying cars in a few years. Put America back to work!

Right, you should be a fool like Bill Gates.

There are some things I do well and things I don't

I wish I had Gates' wealth

Or trump's

But I would not want to BE Gates because in spite of his wealth he is a liberal fool on important issues like the man-made-global-warming-doomsday hoax

I am not sure he is a fool, or just found a way to make money off of peoples fears!

Also known as the man-made-global-warming-problem scientific finding. But why bother with science when there's the allure of political togetherness, right?

Except that the "Scientific finding" is a range of uncertainty as large as the prediction!
The IPCC says the ECS from doubling the CO2 level will be between 1.5 and 4.5 C,
an amplification from the input warming of 1.1 C from CO2 direct response.
This is an output between 36% and 409% of the input.
The last IPCC report, would not even give a best estimate of ECS.

End of this year $35,000 model 3 will be coming off their lines. The gigafactory is taking vertical integration, economies of scale, and continual upgrading of efficiency of automation to the extreme. It's going to be raw materials in and car, truck, semi, or solar roof panel out. Their costs are going to blow the competition away very soon. What I think would be smart is once they've proven gigafactory 1 to be a big winner, for the U.S. taxpayers to invest a 100 billion in greatly speeding up having many more gigafactories. That will 1 (with an effective carbon tax) greatly speed up the transition to a clean low cost sustainable renewable economy, 2. create a ton of jobs, 3. be a great investment of tax payers money that will have a great return on investment, something that is rare in govt spending. That is the kind of infrastructure spending I like, the infrastructure is created cheaply as Tesla will build the gigafactories at a far cheaper price than if the government was the ones actually building them, and it creates long term wealth and good return on investment.

Musk, who surprisingly has Trump's ear(although in some ways its not surprising given Musk's fondness of making things in the U.S.) has been on twitter today giving an endorsement to Tillerson as secretary of state, even stating Tillerson supports a carbon tax. Imo if Trump was smart, he could still be the drill baby drill president and increase U.S. jobs and profits doing that, but at the same time by implementing an effective carbon tax and lowering taxes elsewhere to offset it, can long term decrease the trajectory of carbon demand and increase demand for renewables and greatly speed up the transition to a clean low cost sustainable future. It would have a double whammy effect on creating jobs and raising government revenue.

"Yesterday Elon Musk stunned us (and just about everyone else) by tweeting in support of Rex Tillerson, former CEO of ExxonMobil and likely Secretary of State under the Trump administration. Musk’s public image is that of a tycoon using his influence to innovate towards a techno-utopian future powered by clean energy and complete with human cities on Mars. What could he possibly have in common with a mogul who made his fortune sucking the Earth’s resources dry? We asked him. And today he answered."...
