Seems to be on course to maybe happen--at least all the signs that the end is nigh could be put in place during his term.

Climate change may be escalating so fast it could be 'game over', scientists warn | The Independent

...if leading scientists writing in one of the most respected academic journals are right, planet Earth could be on course for global warming of more than seven degrees Celsius within a lifetime.

And that, according to one of the world’s most renowned climatologists, could be “game over” – particularly given the imminent presence of climate change denier Donald Trump in the White House.

I'm waiting for mid-60's next week. Probably 20 degrees above normal.

That is weather, not climate.

My grandfather went through winters in Maine back in the 20's when they wore sweaters most of the time.

Keep drinking the Kool Aid my friend.

Yes, the world is going to end under Trump...

Is there no medication you lefties can take for a few days?

It may be that the end is nigh. Maybe we should get a sign printed up to tote around town.

Well, we can't pin it on the black guy anymore.

Still with the race card?(eye roll) Good grief-you people just don't learn do you?

I doubt Trump will be the difference on climate change. If the studies are true, we're f***ed in that regard regardless. It's not like Clinton with this Congress would have pulled us back off the edge.

Trump's gonna grab the world by it's *****!

But seriously, I highly doubt Trump's going to usher the end of the world as we know it.

The ushering, if such be, was long before our time. Old ***** Touch has nothing to do with the state of that one.

No. But, it is much more fitting that Trump should be president when we go over the edge.

We'll blame him for it though. Much like how the Right blamed Obama and Clinton for everything. Should be fun.

Actually, if he accomplishes some of his policies, to a significant degree, he will have done more to reduce carbon than any other politician. That policy being bringing manufacturing back to the U.S. from places like China and other nations that have little to no environmental regulations.

BINGO!!! The most destructive thing ever done to the world's forests was the massive reduction of old growth logging in the US. Now instead of logging cos. who are forest managers making sure that the forests are there for generations using smart forest management, we've sent most of the logging overseas where they use bulldozers instead of chainsaws, the only replanting they do is to allow corn fields to be planted to produce ethanol, with ZERO watershed protection and no concern for wildlife. We do things better, cleaner, safer and more efficiently than any other nation and when send our work overseas, all it does is make the world a worse place.

Yup...I've never understood liberals on this one. It's like if we don't do something in our own back yard it doesn't even exist. It just gets done via magic dust.

The first sense I have seen, coming from a Trumper. You have adjusted my opinion, I applaud your reasoning skills sir.

Good points made in the past three or four posts.

Can't argue with this. Good post.

Apparently many scientists are already saying it is too late to do anything about AGW. Trump isn't even in office yet; blaming him for it would be the height of insanity.

IF man-made climate change is really a significant thing, IF it is actually a global catastrophe, it is a result of centuries of human activity as a whole.

Did Obama "fix" global warming? No? Well... blame him, that makes about the same amount of sense.

lol...I almost forgot.

...I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth. This was the moment - this was the time - when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves, and our highest ideals. Thank you, God Bless you, and may God Bless the United States of America.

I hate how journalists always take the extreme ends of uncertainty ranges and use the dumb phrase "could be."

Yes, "game over" is a good description for 7C inside "a lifetime" (whatever that is). However, even the pessimistic models don't actually think that's going to happen. 7C figures are more of a "this is the most we could possibly have underestimated things" scenario.

It's not happening. Realistic scenarios are a much more useful discussion. Problem is, realistic scenarios aren't apocalyptic. "Not a great outcome" is a better description of, say, 2C. "Not a great outcome" isn't a headline that generates clicks.

Mark my words, you're going to see "You wouldn't BELIEVE what this climate scientist is predicting" in the near future, if you haven't already.

Possibly "(local area) mother has easy tip to fight climate change... oil companies hate her!"
