Why can’t I find a job...I went to college!

More pay requires more school.

Used to be if you got in, you got a chance to do a certain amount of OJT as you went, then take more classes at trade tech in your spare time, get your NIASE ticket (now just called ASE) and you're in.

Of course, used to be if you got on as a plumber's apprentice, the master plumber taught you whatever you needed to know and the union tested you. Same with the electricians, carpenters, masons, etc. Go to the union halls, get yourself on a crew.

One is Vette certified before touching one at a dealership. Same with Porsche.

Johnny Sprocket ain't swinging wrenches on real cars for big bucks. Not without a ****load of certification and experience.

So what was your little quip of "shup up 4chan refugee" implying?

You're only here because you get a thrill from triggering libtards. I've yet to see you engage in anything else.
You're just part of the new influx from "wherever"...and it doesn't matter which forum you came from, you sound and act like a clone of all the other 209,409,753 newbies that just arrived here in March 2019.
For all I know you might have come from Turning Point USA. I couldn't care less.

The minute you start actually debating, you'll see people treat you differently but for now, you're just being a hack that spews out crap because you think that's what debating is.

The 4chan site is just another internet forum, known for people who talk and act the way that you do.
It's very popular with angry incels who have just discovered things like anarchy, the alt-right, MGTOW, etc.

You're here because you think having a chip on your shoulder is how you make it in a debate forum.
Enjoy your stay, it probably won't be long.

Actually I just retired, I ain’t doin’ squat for a long time! Drink coffee, piss some people off on the inter webs, sit pool side and listen to bob Marley and wonder how just how in the hell so many got there signals crossed while I wait to cast my vote! After all, isn’t that really all of us can do...vote yur vote!

I am semi-retired against my will. Sixty-two, knees and ankles like Joe Namath, frying pans for ears and floaters in both eyes, which means I can still drive just fine but looking through a tiny viewfinder on a quarter million dollar cinematography rig isn't easy the way it used to be and directors don't have time for old men with bad eyes.

I can still edit but that's because instead of a tiny viewfinder I have three giant monitors to squint at and I can crank the volume so I can hear.

Plus, my real full time job nowadays for the last year and a half is "caregiver for my disabled Navy veteran wife" who is going through some serious health issues, so I can't take off and fly halfway across the country for two months on a shoot anyway.
She can get all the home health aides she wants but in the end I still find that I am more comfortable taking care of her myself.
I'm okay leaving her with a home health aide for a few days but not for a month or two.

I have money coming in from retail assets that I own and rental property, that fills in the gaps.
In three years I'll start collecting my issue from SS.

Funny thing is, my back and shoulders, things camera operators usually complain about, are perfectly fine.
As long as you don't make me walk a mile and a half carrying the damn thing, and if I wasn't half blind and half deaf I could still do it.

Out to pasture, I would much rather be like Haskell Wexler, who was older than dirt but still had decent eyesight and hearing and was able to work till his dying day. Here he is meeting my wife.

What a great guy he was.

Why can’t I find a job...I went to college, I spent $225 grand and my nieghbor who’s a grease ball mechanic in the building trades is making three times what I used to make.

Well Boo hoo hoo, suck it up cup cake, you bought into it, go back to night school and pick ya up a wrench, we can’t all sit behind a computer and produce nothing for the Country opting to push money and information around. Wait wait wait!...you can always teach, bwahhaaa

Very irresponsible of 17 and 18 year olds not to know that their parents, teachers, and guidance counselors were selling them a load of crap.

Guess what? I am not the Idiot Whisperer so I can't and don't speak for whoever it is you're talking about.
Control who?
You should probably take a look at your own content before whining about everyone else.
You just spent the last half dozen posts explaining to me, a liberal, what liberals think, and you're not one.
Not that that would ever stop you because of course, like your hero, you are an expert on everything, including "what liberals think".

You want to know what liberals think? Try asking. Pick an issue, any issue, and ask. Just ASK.
I don't expect everyone to agree on everything, or even most things, or even some things.
In fact, I expect libs and cons to fight like cats and dogs, but about the ISSUES, not flinging monkey feces at the glass window to show who has the bigger nutsack.

Libs and cons fighting over the issues like cats and dogs is an American as Mom, the flag and apple pie.
But the point of doing that is to uncover some speck of common ground.
I gave up comparing genitals in the schoolyard.

fair enough, tomorrow I will ask of you some questions, and I’ll keep an open mind...and I’ll leave the monkey home.

Don't feel sorry for her, just stop pushing to privatize or otherwise shut down the VA Healthcare System, the only place that knows how to give her the care she desperately needs. Would you believe that when she checks in there, the four different patient wards at the SCI Unit actually FIGHT over who gets to have her? They absolutely LOVE her there, they treat her like a rock star.

She's the strongest toughest woman I have ever met.

And whaddya know, this time the forum software decided to let a portrait picture STAY IN portrait mode, just totally random, dumb luck. I expected it to go sideways again. Luck of the draw.

College is about so much more than finding a job in a specific field. One can, on the job, learn whatever is necessary (given capacity) in months. But what one gets in four years of college is not something one gains quickly on the job or anywhere else in life. College is about growing up around people that also wanna learn and succeed. And I mean to a greater extant than a restaurant or garage has to offer.

College is about accelerated growth. That growth, in critical thinking and self awareness and other crucial skills that we all wish were common sense, gets the job and the promotions and the life one wants.

Classes don't change a person. Time does. Experience does. In some ways, college wasn't so different than the army. A concentrated learning experience. And grad school is a totally different level.

This is such a pure presentation of educationist propaganda. You could not have expressed it better if you were being paid to do so.

My father died waiting for a VA appointment, had cancer by the time he came back it had spread to stage 4

And your petty insults make you such a great poster? I post about many things and debate. You got triggered by me because you are insecure and i called out your race baiting in the thread on Nationalism. So you held a petty grudge and spout your dishonesty. Sorry other opinions disturb you so much. I recommend you put me on ignore because i will speak my piece and i dont need your approval.

As for your last sentence, who do you think you are? A mod?

And also, anytime i attempt debate with you, your response is race baiting and strawman building. Your very first sentence, is a great example. I never use that term as i dont believe in using "retard" as a slur.

While it sounds like a poster, I can see it working just like that in my daughter who’s starting her 5 year for a masters, she’s way smarter than I ever could be and is growing into a fine young women not jaded like her old man.

If I were to get my discharge papers from the Army tomorrow, I can line up about half a dozen contracting jobs that guarantee 75 to 100 grand a year. Largely because I saught out finishing my education to get a degree in Geospatial intelligence and analytics. There are other factors sure, it helps to have a security clearance and a willingness to travel overseas. But there's literally thousands of people within my field looking at those same jobs. Sure, it might be easier to pick up a training cert, or an internship but some of the most competitive jobs that you can make an actual career off of with retirement benefits require at least a bachelors.

thank you for your expertise and experience, couple things you should know, when someone says mechanic don’t assume it’s an auto mechanic a mechanic is someone who works with tools. That said, someone who works at a nuclear power plant as a journey foreman can earn upwards of $ 6 figures, and if it’s refeuling on an outage there is boo-coo overtime to be had, your only limit is the amount of radiation you can take.

But yes a liberal arts degree is about useless and their parents should have known better, but little Joanie’s doing great and she made the deans list.

The dose you take in a nuke plant is strictly regulated by the dosimeter badge that you are issued each and every day.
If your dosimeter indicates that you got enough to trigger the badge, that's an event or incident. No nuke plant tech is "expected to take a dose" as part of their job. The job involves personal protective gear and strict adherence to operational guidelines, including what to do in the event of a radiation release, which is again, as I said, an incident or event which is reported to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the DOE.

In other words, it makes the nightly news, because it is a workplace injury, not a normal "part of the job".
My father never got dosed in all his thirty years in the industry. My wife DID get dosed in the Navy, which is why she's been in a wheelchair for twenty years with a bad kidney and a bad bladder, and it's also why our son was born with five serious heart defects.

Refueling a nuke plant is not a haphazard event where radiation just leaks willy nilly as a normal happenstance, and whoever says that it is does not know what they are talking about.

A friend I've known since junior high school days, recently retired from the Turkey Point nuke plant in Florida...twenty years on the job as a tech, never got a single dose, not even 1 μSv.

There are some people who grow in college. The overlap between "people who grow in college" and "people who go to grad school" is substantial.

But most people who go to college think (because it's what they've been told their entire lives) it's a giant party that will magically make them successful. College is only a growth opportunity if you're the sort of person who belongs in college in the first place (most people aren't).

I assume you've been reading about Putin's new hobby, spoofing GNSS signals everywhere.

That's probably worth its own thread, if you post it I'll be there. If I post it tomorrow will you pop in to have a look?

GPS spoofing and most Sat stuff is more Signal intelligence than Geo Intel but I'll give it a read tomorrow once I'm a bit more sober.

Nope not the least bit upset that you do not understand that nationalism poisons societies and wrecks foreign policy.
And you seem to have a lot of trouble with your almost tourettes-like use of the word "race-baiting".

This word of yours, (race) I do not think it means what you think it means.
Huey Freeman already exposed you for the hack you are. You didn't learn anything from it, did you?

giphy.gif

This other word you use, debate...it is much different in 4chan country where you come from, is it not?
Monkeys flinging feces against the glass window at the zoo is not debate here.

Suddenly I'm a mod now? That's on you. Ed McMahon never showed up at my door with a mod paycheck and a prize.

By the way, your hero Mr. Trump, did not waste an opportunity to rub salt in the wounds of Ed McMahon.
Talk about kicking a dog when they're down.
