Public schools destroy more children than they help. Shutting them down for any reason is always a good idea.

To Hawkeye10: Jimmy Peanuts created the cabinet position. So I would say abolish the UNCONSTITUTIONAL Department of Education.

I am not alone. President Reagan wanted to do it as did many others:

“I am going to promise to advocate the abolishment of the federal Department of Education,” said former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson.

"What I would do as president of the United States is pass the mother of all repeal bills on education," said Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann. "Then I would go over to the Department of Education, I'd turn off the lights, I would lock the door and I would spend all the money back to the states and localities."​

Perhaps Arnie is unaware that the leading cause of death in children are accidents - drowning, falls, cars, poisoning, fire. I'm going to bet that next to none of those happened not at school. So............
 
If some of these punks in public school were home schooled,eventually their parents would shoot them.

He also seems unaware that many families depend on their kids being in school during the day. Duncan doesn't seem to have much common sense, frankly.

Home schooled and private schooled students seem far less likely to shoot up homes and private schools than public school students shoot up public schools.

Maybe it's time to reconsider school vouchers and give parents the choice of sending their kids to safe schools.

And that's more of the problem. Schools have more of social constructs than institutes of leaning.

Public schools are more interested in why Johnny has two mothers and more interested in being propaganda machines than why Johnny can't read. And more interested in serving government paid meals and providing baby sitting services. And less interested in serving up the 'R's.

Possibly there's a correlation between that and turning out kids that have no problem settling their problems by killing their peers.
 
And again I ask, other than the utopian view that banning guns and thinking that there would never be another shooting, what law would fix this?
