Not sure if this is the correct forum, but it is somewhat education related.

And fair warning, if you laugh at this that means you're totally racist.

Once again, people get overly offended over the silliest things.

Is there even any evidence that this is real? Most things of this type aren't.

But people who want it to be spread it around.

The master/slave relationship is not necessarily race based. Have you ever heard of a "slavepiece"? We often refer to well paid workers as "slaving away" - is that a racist reference as well?

sounds like it was a pun.... not a racist joke

Just a thought, better than a slave piece is a Wrong answer, is that racist? I understand your point that this was badly thought out, but I do not think it was Meant to be racist, and yes it should be changed. That said let's not get into avoiding the use of certain words and terms, we all need to remember that history should never be ignored to do so is to risk having a distorted view of the world, a loss of a good grasp on the Big Picture of whom we are as a People, and yes even repeat those same mistakes.

Anyone that has ever served in the Army should be familiar with these.....especially if they were ever in a mechanized or Armor unit.

Slave piece is actually can be technically correct. MAster cylinder, slave cylinder. the fact that "Masterpiece" is one word and "slave piece" is two indicates one of them is wrong. so one could argue that both meant to be two words.

A master unit is a control unit that controls slaves. think old IDE hare drives, there were master and slaves.

It's almost certainly a typo, or relates to something else unrelated to slavery.

I'm not enraged. I am a racist and so are you. I am not a bigot, I'm not sure about you. This overreactive mother seems very much like a bigot.

So you have a teacher, in a moment of insensitivity, is testing the pupils' understanding of word relationships. Was the teaching even thinking of human slavery?

Or

In this teacher's subconscious a variance of the following:

When I was six, my grandfather started teaching me how to read and notate music. (you can look this up for detailed explanations) At my age seven, we had reached a point of instruction where he was teaching me the use of clefs. Clef is a French word, meaning a musical key which is used for indicating pitch. When discussing the use of double clefs, as in dual treble clefs, one was the masterpiece, the other the slavepiece, with triple trebleclefs, one was the masterpiece, the other two the slavepieces.

Over the years I have learned similar key theories for everything from notations for color schemes by art and moving image teachers notating light effects upon color as elements for creating mood. Masterpieces and slavepieces, to engineers using notations for ordering the physics of design when notating transference of power transmission. The same for many other fields.

Like the ignorant substitution of racism for bigotry by people who understand neither or the use of language for precise depiction of thought and ideas, I give you no fair warning for convincing me you are unthinking, just like this overreactive mother.

Perhaps this will help you? "Black is beautiful" is a positive racist statement, it is not a bigoted statement. Racism can be celebrated like all ethnic qualities, bigotry, in any direction, never accepted.

When suggesting to another overreactive parent that she use the novel Tarzan to encourage her recalcitrant child to read because Tarzan teaches himself to read, her son having recently seen an animated Tarzan movie and being enamored with it, she responded with "I can't do that. That book is filled with racism."

I laughed like I am laughing at you and this parent's overreaction now. I responded to her, "Terrific, as he reads the novel, you will have talking points to discuss these elements, why people developed these attitudes, why many people still have these attitudes, and why they are unacceptable. You know, the truth as you see it, and listen to the truth as he sees it." When you hide children from real life, you lose any trust they may have given you.

So take your hubris and stuff it where the moon don't shine, along with your faux outrage, and hers. Seize the moment, seize the opportunity.

Slave piece is not a made up term. It was used quite regularly by Thomas Jefferson back on the plantation, but by all accounts he used it as a term of endearment.

I'm going to have to change the name of the slave cylinders on my brakes and the slave tank on my air compressor.

Just paint that master parts black and the slave parts white and it won't be racist any more. ;)

It's only offensive if you make it offensive in your mind.

OMG, I had completely blocked those things from my memory. Those things used to give me the hardest time. I could never get them to fit right.

Until I read the quote you responded to, I thought you were speaking of the codpieces, and the thread was getting interesting.

This topic is a good example of a common psychological affect that the left takes advantage of, during propaganda indoctrination. As a common example, say you bought a new or used car of a certain make, model, year, and color. What often happens is, as you drive around, you will begin to notice the same make, model and even year and color car, appearing everywhere as you drive.

It is not that this particular make and model, somehow just appears everywhere, weirdly timing out with your purchase. It is really because your new car is on the top of your mind, and this causes you to become more aware of that same make and model. The environment did not change, your awareness has been more targeted by your purchase, since that purchase brought your awareness to a focus.

Members of the left, who have been sold the various PC bill of goods, will notice these PC goods, more often in their environment, and will become offended more often, compared to someone who has not bought into that same make and model propaganda.

When I first looked at the topic title and scanned the photo of the exam, I was not initially sure what I was supposed to see. Then I reconsidered the topic and then I knew which make and model was bought, and what I was looking for; racist parallel. Others who were also not indoctrinated that way, compare the buzz words; master and slave, and this bought to mind other memories like slave cables; military and auto lingo. Now that this is on my mind, I will see if I notice this more in the environment.

The lesson learned is the left is far more conditioned to see offensive makes and models in the environment. They have bought this bill of goods. Those not indoctrinated, don't notice this as often, since the top of their mind has other things on it. This psychological affect also explains why the left thinks there is more racism today, than ever before, even though this is not supported by historical data; conditioned data stacking due to sold goods. Just be aware.

"How I read it is that masters are better than slaves, and therefore white people are better than black people."
This woman is a troublemaker.
The liberal/Demo wrecking machine moves on,damaging everything and anything getting in its way.
She has a black child which is making her paranoid.
"master"piece over "slave"piece.
Again, society is bringing race into everything since Donald Trump became President.

What I worry about is the indoctrination that teaches that slavery is always wrong...
