PENCE snubbed at Notre Dame

Dozens of students walked out on VP Pence at commencement. Administration policies were cited for the protest.

Dozens of Notre Dame Students Walk Out of VP Mike Pence Commencement Speech - NBC News

Yes a couple of dozen students walked out on Mike Pence, a concerted effort preplanned by a leftist group on campus that engulfs a number of special interests groups on the left. The students who walked out were met with a lot of boos from the rest of the student body.

Unfortunately, those couple of dozen students are the headline in the MSM when it should have been the wonderful commencement speech Pence delivered and was welcomed widely by the student body.
Here's a snippet.

Not surprising, I worked in South Bend and lived in Walkerton for several years. Like night and day, the people in South Bend hated Pence. But the people in Walkerton loved him. City vs Small town mentality, personally I hated him as governor and would rather keep Trump all four years.

I could find no mention of the ratio of those that cheered the action and those that booed? According to the piece there were both.

Fine. Kids do those things. They get all excited about how obvious and simple the solutions are, since the professors make it seem that way. And for those outside looking in, every problem has a simple answer.

They are just dumb, educated simpletons.

Unfortunately this also falls along party lines. I cannot address the speech, I have heard the VP talk before and there are many other things that I would do before hearing him again. Interesting that I post the link to the article, in it's entirety and one response cherry picks the dissenting students only (boos), and another addresses a 'handful.' The article states that the response was double what was anticipated, up to 100 students, hardly a 'handful.' The article states that some in the crowd cheered the action.

It is pretty easy to find the ratio of walkouts to those that stayed - that, naturally, was not reported. ;)

Apples and oranges, please reread my post that you quote! Boos to cheers, not stayed to left the ceremony.

Yep, the handful that walked out are the big news, not the thousands that stayed and heard a fine address.

The first is unusual, the second is standard and not news. You're arguing for 'dog bites man' stories over 'man bites dog' stories.

# of students that walked out compared to # of students that stayed is not apples to oranges. Please read my post slowly and carefully. ;)

I suppose those that disagree with those that walked out during VP Pence's speech are disappointed in the fact that those that did walk out did NOT attempt to derail Pence's speech, riot, incite violence, perform acts of arson, or otherwise be complete dicks, like some recent protest movements do.

What those that walked out did do was a silent form of protest that harmed no one; it only harmed the extremely fragile minds of those that disagree .............

Once more! I cannot make you see the difference. Me: cheered/booed
You: those who stayed/those who left
My work is done here........

So...20 kids or so walked out while a dude was giving a speech?!?

Stop the presses, everyone! The WORLD needs to KNOW!

It's not that tough a read......gotta read ALL the words!

According to an AOL article the number that walked out was about 100.
And I might add the ones who walked out were peaceful and quiet.

Approximately 100 graduating Notre Dame students walked out of their commencement on Sunday as a staged protest against their commencement speaker, Vice President Mike Pence.

The video clip I saw showed about 100 students quietly getting up and walking out. Nothing wrong with that.

Uh, no. 100 kids walked out before he gave the speech. You really should know what the **** you are talking about before saying stupid things.

This. I oppose the types of protests that block the other side from speaking. The type of protest mentioned in the OP, however, is about as benign as it gets.

Correct. No one has to listen to some idiot speak, even if said idiot is the Vice President of an even bigger idiot.

Of course you wouldn't in the MSM but someone on Twitter that was there said the graduating class was over 3000. She also posted the audible boos when the students decided to walk out at the beginning of Pence's speech. You hear the clapping for VP Pence being introduced and boos toward those walking out. You can watch it here....

https://twitter.com/SummerRatcliff/status/866315862722170883

So it started with dozens of students as in your OP in the reporting to now a hundred students. When reporters are using the word "dozens" then that should be a red flag for a thinking person telling them this is no big deal. What's a hundred students in comparison to 3000? The answer is 3.33333333333%

Whoop tee doo!

Yet it was picked up by the MSM as being a big deal, none which bothered to focus on Pence's excellent commencement speech defending religious liberties and free speech. You know Pence was the guy those who walked out was defending their right to do so.

On another note as a mother, if that was my kid that walked out like that, I would have knocked them up side the head first chance I got for showing such disrespect regardless who the speaker would have been.

First , apparently you did not read OP article that said it was expected about 50 students would walk out but it was about 100.

Whoever posted on Twitter that the graduation class was 3,000 was mistaken.

There were 2, 081 degrees. ( some like my son-law may have received 2 degrees).

The ceremony began an hour later than originally scheduled, to keep the celebration in the stadium and avoid rain, which fell even as guests arrived to watch their graduates take to the field. As all 2,081 degrees were conferred and President Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., issued his charge, thick, stubborn clouds that had been present for most of the morning finally parted, allowing the sun to shine down on the Class of 2017.

If he really believed in tolerance, he wouldn't be Trump's VP.
