Teacher, 70, Forced to Retire After Displaying Confederate Flag During Civil War Less

Re: Teacher, 70, Forced to Retire After Displaying Confederate Flag During Civil War

We would need someone as generous as Illinois to help provide that for us since we're too stupid to have jobs or responsibilities.

Hey, you said it, not me.

How's Chicago today? Scattered clouds with a chance of lead?

Localized to Govt mandated and funded ghettos.

At least up here in Chicago we never betrayed our country. Can't say the same about y'all.

When I was in the United States Marine Corps, I found that there were lots more Southern boys alongside me than yanks.

And it only took utterly devastating the countryside and defeating every army you had to remind youse guys which country you were supposed to be fighting for.

Just think if y'all hadn't been so dead set on being able to continue to own other human beings, you wouldn't have had to experience General Sherman's beautifully executed March to the Sea. Among other and sundry incidents.

I'm coming up short trying to remember the last time I owned a human being. I feel fairly certain that none of my family or friends own anyone either.

Gee, you don't think that's because us Yankees headed down and utterly crushed that abomination?

Which, of course, was the confederacy's raison d'Etat.

Flying a confederate flag is a sign of support of treason and a multitude of other sins, like slavery.

Us Yankees?

I'm going to use my logic and reasoning to bet that you had nothing to do with saving any slaves. If you had any logic or reasoning, you could deduce that I had nothing to do with slavery.

Where ever I go in the world, I meet Germans. They're everywhere; they travel well. And I have never once blamed a single one of them for the Holocaust. Call me silly, but I just had this gut feeling that none of them had anything to do with it, nor did they support it.

God forbid schools accurately present history.

The north collectively, obviously. Except, of course, for those cottonmouth jackasses.

Gee buddy. Did those Germans mention sending their kids to a school with a Nazi flag mounted on the wall? Or did they mention a Nazi flag flying over one of their state capital buildings?

Hmm.....

I'm trying to figure out your outrage at a piece of cloth. Slavery existed for four years under the Confederacy. Slavery existed for 89 years under the United States of America.

Do you salute the US flag? Do you also equate the US flag to the Swastika? Why would you salute a Swastika? Are you a Nazi? Do you hate Jews and retards and gay people? Do you wish to kill those people in gas chambers?

Slavery existed for 89 years under the United States because of shameless pandering to the slaveholders of the south. The south controlled the US government for most of those years, and yet the second they realized they couldn't control the government anymore they tried to bail. It cost hundreds of thousands of loyal Union men their lives putting down the traitors.

Then after the war, once Reconstruction ended, the ****birds spent the fifty plus years terrorizing the poor African Americans who were far more loyal to the United States then y'all were. Terror by night, lynchings, burnings, firebombing churches...... It was goddam disgusting.

And don't give me any of this "oh that was only a few bad apples" bull****. The vast majority of the southern whites supported Jim Crow, supported the stripping of constitutional rights from African Americans, and supported segregation in general. Eisenhower had to send the 101st Airborne down to force y'all to allow African American kids to go to school with white kids. When the president has to send a friggin division of paratroopers to force you to obey the constitution, there's a serious problem.

No, buddy. I'm equating the Confederate flag with the Nazi flag.

What a waste of money. He could have just sent in one Marine.

Does anyone else find it laughable that someone from Chicago would lecture about racism?

Does anybody else find it laughable that somebody who tried to compare the Confederacy to our founding fathers, and thinks that General Sherman's brilliant campaign was "treasonous" thinks that people will believe him?

Seems like y'all didn't learn your lesson.

What lesson? That someone from Chicago is somehow morally superior to anyone from the South? That's the summary of your entire sermon above.

If that is indeed your lesson, then no, we didn't learn it.

That's because of recruitment numbers of the country. More conservative southern boys than anything else.

There was nothing brillant about what Sherman did. Mowing your way through civilians is not brillant, it's barbaric.

No, the lesson that treason is not allowed and that celebrating such treason should be frowned upon.

Considering that Chicago didn't commit treason in an effort to continue owning other human beings, yes, I'd say we have a certain level of moral superiority over people who fly the confederate flag.

Re: Teacher, 70, Forced to Retire After Displaying Confederate Flag During Civil War

There was plenty brilliant with what he did. He launched a offensive through the heart of the south and repeatedly defeated the Confederate Army in open battle. It was brilliantly executed and well planned to begin with.

You seem to keep forgetting that the confederate "civilian" population kept shooting at US troops. Once you do that, under the laws of war you lose all protection granted to civillians. But I forgot; you don't have much use for the Geneva Convention and other such documents.

You also don't seem to grasp the concept that Sherman did fight battles in the course of his march to the sea.

He was truly a genius to win a war of attrition.

To take 3.6 times the numbers of troops into battle and still lose more people, yeah man, that's military genius of unparalleled proportion.

And here I thought you were a marine. Don't they teach you that the side on the offensive almost always takes more casualties?

But no, Sherman's March to the Sea was not a campaign of attrition.

But then again, I was a US Marine. We don't lose.
