[h=1]Cultural Appropriation: Black Female Accosts White Male Over His Dreadlocks[/h]
a video published on Monday, a black female said to be a campus employee accosts a white male said to be a student at San Francisco State University out of hostility to the “cultural appropriation” of his dreadlock hairstyle.
“You’re saying I can’t have a hairstyle, because of your culture? Why?” asks the white male, who appears to be wearing a dress.

I'm personally torn here, while her actions would be called a "hate crime" had it been reversed, who here hasn't wanted to punch a white kid with dreads in the face?

He should have asked her why she was wearing white people clothes and doing "white people stuff" like being educated and working for a living.

I once had a redhead Irish girlfriend with a dreadlock hair style that she would wear for a few days and then undo to have a lovely afro in bright red over her green eyes. I never felt like punching her in the face, to tell you the truth. ;)

There are nuts everywhere. The girl probable doesn't even understand how unspeakable she is.

She's partially right, dreadlocks are just a bad idea everywhere and on everyone.

I certainly believe cultural appropriation is a thing but I think there are degrees and I also don't think it is always a bad thing. Eminem and Macklemore rapping doesn't bother me because they sound like themselves and they rap about the world in which they grew up. Iggy Azalea rubs me the wrong way, though, because she intentionally tries to sound like someone else. Specifically she is imitating a stereotypical southern black dialect. I could understand blacks taking offense to that.

It isn't the same when blacks adopt so-called white behavior, such as when a black woman straightens her hair. They live in a white culture and the fact is, in the US at least, the more white you act the more likely you are to succeed.

But as I said, there are degrees. I just don't think hair style is that big of a deal. You see someone wearing a hairstyle you like so you get one for yourself. And dreadlocks have been around a long time. Even the Spartans wore dreadlocks. So I don't think any one ethnicity should feel entitled to a claim on that particular hairstyle.

Tongue in cheek, I can see your dilemma.

However, I can certainly see this employee being fired, arrested for assault, and I would highly recommend a campus wide protest. Additionally, I would like to see the Dean require all employees to complete sensitivity training.

Unfortunately, this warped women is representative of the cultural manipulation that is taking place on college campuses. I truly feel for people attending college these days.

Can you show me examples of "black" behavior?

That would require the members of the student protester class to value the freedom of expression. That's simply no longer the case.

what does it matter?
she should be fired an let go of.

that is all that matters.

consider many of them want to restrict free speech yes.
today's youths are about as dumb as a box of rocks but
this can be blamed on the over sensitive PC crowd that timmy and jill can't have their feelings hurt.

Dreadlocks trace back to Ancient Greece, particularly to Sparta. The Rastafari/black nationalist movements "appropriated" it, if that term makes sense, from certain Hindu sects and Christian ascetics.

Sadly, I believe you are correct. The wholesale selling of one's soul for many on campus today, does not bode well for their future.

Maybe it will be like Chapelle's show. We'll have a great-race draft, where each culture drafts the cultural stereotypes one after another in turn, and from then on its 100% that cultures. Will Jews or Blacks get the afro?

Yeah, that girl was a bully, bitch, and the way should started getting physical...had that been a guy it would have been a throw-down.

Guy, hell, I'd have ****ing decked her.

This is what happens when good intellectual observations become taken way the hell too seriously.

The best part was near the end when she had the audacity to say his hands were on her, rather than as a defense from her becoming physical.

I didn't feel any desire to punch him in the face.

That bitch is so stupid. By her logic she shouldn't even be in that college because that's appropriating 'white' culture.

The guy only affirms the innate racist nature of white people, to be honest. Cultural insensitivity as well...

There were centers of learning in Ancient Africa that were very modern and well sought after back in the day while Europe was living in the Dark Ages...
