Equal protection of the law is in our Constitutions. Persons should be able to obtain unemployment compensation for simply being unemployed in an At-Will Employment State. It really should be, that simple. Why is solving poverty any more complicated than that?

Unemployment compensation is temporary assistance for those who have become unemployed.

That is equal protection under the law.

Danielpalos, you continue referring to an “At-Will Employment” state which I suppose is some foreign nation, because I’m unaware of such a USA state. I’m supposing it’s a mythical state, but possibly I’m incorrect?

I consider government supporting “At-will” unemployment as a foolish proposal and only simple people believe the solution to all poverty is simple.

The judicature is vested with the judicial Power in not Only law, but also equity.

Capitalism has a natural rate of unemployment. A rate of unemployment is natural for Capitalism. It is not temporary in the real world of economics.

Danielpalos, you're posting nonsense. Judges that believe they have jurisdiction beyond the law, are overruled. Judges are often impelled to decide in favor of laws or situations they personally deem to be absolutely unfair.

I recall the story of a lawyer that had just won his case. He telegraphed his client, “Justice prevailed!”. His client replied, “Appeal immediately!!”. Respectfully, Supposn

The great (alleged) injustice is in the state of CA not paying him to simply loaf. His unemployment status is "natural" because not seeking employment "naturally" results in his continued unemployment. ;)

You are not being deprived of anything and nobody is paid UI benefits simply on the basis of electing not to seek work - thus you are treated equally to all others who would simply rather not work.

That is no longer a valid argument under our form of Capitalism if don't have the morals for it. You can always quit and go on unemployment if you have any moral or ethical objections in our first world economy.

I have already invoked laches since this dilemma would have already gone to court for resolution with equal protection of the law concerning the legal concept of employment at the will of either party for any benefits administered by the State; a petty cash fund for this purpose, is all that should have been necessary.
