On the issue of raising the minimum wage

What is your opinion on the plans to increase the minimum wage?

I hold strong opinions on very many things.

All of human history is the battle between Aristotelian freedom (capitalism) and Platonic govt (libsocialism). Do you have an opinion on major issue of human history???

warning that not paying attention to the people with whom you disagree is as idiotic as it gets.

a lib is a lib and seen from 100 miles away so can one not pay attention?

It also came from reading Sowell to whom you attribute ludicrously simplistic opinions.

Do you know if you are a capitalist or a libsocialist yet? Sowell knows where he stands. Your need to be an economic eunuch prevents you from understanding Sowell. Sorry.

Liberalism is totalitarianism with a human face. Thomas Sowell

“Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it.”

“One of the consequences of such notions as ‘entitlements’ is that people who have contributed nothing to society feel that society owes them something, apparently just for being nice enough to grace us with their presence.”
― Thomas Sowell

The black family survived centuries of slavery and generations of Jim Crow, but it has disintegrated in the wake of the liberals' expansion of the welfare state.

The most fundamental fact about the ideas of the political left is that they do not work. Therefore we should not be surprised to find the left concentrated in institutions where ideas do not have to work in order to survive. I made numerous attempts to extend you a chance to make a sensible contribution.

If you don't think conservatism is sensible please say why or admit you have no idea on earth what you are talking about!!!

That's why you should pay attention when people on the left make an argument.

Sowell paid attention for a long time and then concluded that liberals are deadly idiots. Do you get this now??

Many of the people who you consider to be idiots are much smarter than you are. They can run circles around you solving complicated problems. They learn faster and improve workflow better than most people. It's not stupidity that explains disagreements.

Morally charged problems are precisely the sorts of problems where anyone can behave like an idiot thinking they're a genius, in large part because it is so easy to believe we're the genius and the others are the idiots. We all mount the defense of "our kind of people" with as much baloney as we need when political discourse turns into a fight and you are making it a fight.

For you a liberal is synonym for (deadly) idiot? One funny thing about liberals, they take science more often seriously compared to conservative people. By counting liberals as idiots you also - most likely - don't trust scientific research and new findings about how the universe works.

Most fun thing about your comments is that "trade mark" question: "Do you get this now??". It's not even remotely intellectual, just stupid tautology from you.

It seems to depend on what the science in question has to say. For deeply religious conservatives, research on evolutionary biology and archeological evidence on an entire host of issues tend to conflict with some of their beliefs. For conservatives who lean towards individual liberties, there is also some tension between their desire to extend people the liberty to make their own choice and just about any strand of research that would justify centralized action plans.

However, we also have radicals on the left who really believe gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, and biological sex are independent of one another. You can check for yourself, but it's somewhere in the vicinity of 95% of biological males and females who identify with their respective biological gender. A quick eye sweep anywhere in North America or Europe will tell you the vast majority of them also dress, choose haircuts, etc. in accordance with the prevailing social norms associated with their biological genders and just about 10% of them are homosexuals or bisexuals. Those are insanely strong correlations. A model with all of these aspects of human psychology independent is about as strongly rejected by data as you could ever hope a model to be rejected. Yet, radicals on the left believe it is a correct view. They also believe in equally shockingly uninformed nonsense such as that the psychology of men and women is identical. In this case, you have several studies conducted by psychologists who, if anything, are biased in favor of finding that men and women are identical, and these studies show it's not true. One of them covers over 130 000 people in 55 countries. Last time I heard Jordan Peterson commenting on this issue, he counted 6 major studies published in top journals containing massive empirical evidence on the personality differences between men and women, all of them identifying the same general patterns.

An engineer at Google got fired over an internal memo which explained, using carefully selected peer-reviewed research, that men and women are not identical. Summers got fired from Harvard when he pointed out more geniuses are men, in a discussion on why STEM fields are not welcoming more women. The IQ distribution is more dispersed for men than for women, so that is just an empirical fact: even if they're very similar on average, if you go the tails of the distribution, you will find those groups are almost only composed of men. Denying that is as stupid as believing the Earth is flat.

Conservatives do not have a monopoly on stupidity. We're all human beings with the same underlying cognitive structures, albeit with some individual variations. The only constant pattern here is that people tend to find reasons to disagree with inconvenient ideas. You only get them to be reasonable when they have to defend their views to a crowd whom they expect to influence their reputation based on the empirical accuracy of their statements. That happens in some fields of research during seminars, assuming the field is not politically biased. The reason is that your capacity to reason is something you use to manage your reputation, not something you use to find the truth (Jonathan Haidt, "The Righteous Mind").

Yes that was also conclusion of our genius Founders which is why they were for freedom from govt and why that is what Constitution was all about. Do you understand?

totally wrong of course. A liberal will look at Cuba/Florida and say lets copy Cuba. A liberal will look at evolution and say lets overrule it and try to insure survival of the least fit. Now do you understand?

appropriate answer is, yes I get it and now I'm a conservative too. Or, no don't get it and here's why. Do you understand?

They can run circles around you solving complicated problems.

so then show us how they solved the complicated problem and concluded liberalism is better than socialism?

isn't it moral to observe that libsocialism killed 150 million in USSR China Cambodia? It does not require genius to observe this or to ask modern libsocialist why they think they can do better than starving more millions.

Einstein was a socialist therefore an idiot, politically speaking. Do you understand?

It doesn't require genius to observe that, nor to ask the question. The problem is one of relevance: there is a world of difference between a welfare state and a communist regime. Those who call themselves "socialists" in the US usually support welfare programs, not the abolition of markets in preference for a central planning bureau.

totally 100% naive. Ever heard of Milton Friedman? In intro to Capitalism and Freedom he showed socialist platform from 1930's. Socialists had gotten everything they wanted by 1960's and, surprise, they always want more. First health care for the old, then the poor, then children, then veterans, Indians, and now everybody. And now we have Bernie Sanders who wants to control health care industry, deodorant industry and then every industry. Are you a 2 year old??

Norman Thomas quotes: Error
The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.

Only our Founders and modern Republicans prevent liberals from subjecting us to communism.
Why did you think our liberals spied for Hitler and Stalin? Why did you think Obama loved Rev. Wright and Frank Marshall Davis( communist party no. 346778)?? Why did you think Bernie Sanders, an open communist, votes with the liberals?? Why do you think liberals support 10,000 interventions in the Republican capitalist free market?
