Trump defies the rules of trade

What implemented policies leave you unnerved?

Alienating our friends while sucking up to hostile nations and dictators sure seems ill advised. Misusing an old law to unilaterally direct trade policy like some tinpot autocrat is also something I'm less than pleased with. Let's just say that I disapprove of most of his bumbling administration and save time.

So, then, you're just fine with China's theft of intellectual property that Trump is trying to stop?

Of course not. Let me make it a little clearer for you. Just because I agree that the plane we are on should land at a destination does not mean that I support letting an intoxicated child pilot the plane for the landing. I hope that this clarifies my position for you somewhat.

Seems like Trump is the first pilot ever to take control of the plane who seems to understand where he needs to land it.

The previous pilots who you seem to think were coldly sober and mature were flying off to nowhere and doing so at a low speed in a meandering path.

Regardless of the immaturity and intoxication of this pilot, he's navigating to the point you want to reach. That should be pleasing to you.

Most of them had a decent vocabulary, some advanced level of spelling ability, and didn't get into stupid twitter wars with people. I know, that's a lot to ask.

Going back to your pilot analogy, do you prefer the inarticulate pilot who is flying the plane on a straight line to the destination you like

or

Do you prefer the articulate poet who is flying the plane in circles never arriving at your desired destination?

Personally, I prefer flights that arrive where they said they were going as quickly as possible.

I'll be flying to Puerto Rico for Christmas. It would be a disappointment to circle Indianapolis for 5 hours and land where we started.

I don't care if the pilot can quote Chaucer and has mastered spell check. I just want him to be able to find San Juan.

I prefer a qualified, intelligent, and competent pilot. Short of that, I prefer a pilot who can at least speak in complete sentences and spell "smoking" correctly.

Obama, as an example, thought that reversing the trend of reducing levels of manufacturing jobs would require a magic wand.

He was a charming and eloquent incompetent.

Trump promised to do just this and did not demand a magic wand.

Achievement seems like a good way to determine if a guy is achieving.

Historically, we find that McClellan was a charming and eloquent General adept at explaining why success was impossible.

Historically, we find that Patton was an abrasive and insulting General adept at succeeding.

Obama is McClellan. Trump is Patton.

I appreciate success with or without good spelling over failure with or without good spelling.

Learning to speak English, having the common sense not to pick fights with your friends, and maybe a reduction in lying to, say, 60%.

Is that too much to ask?

Even with the baggage, I still prefer good results to bad results.

Sure, I'd love to have Churchillian oratory and Bezos results, but, if a preference is demanded, I'll take the results over the rhetoric every time.

Trump's challenges with the language are complicated by the listeners wishing he was saying something else.

Which friends are you thinking of? Trump seems to have very few of them. Even those that he hopes to work with seem prone to back stabbing.

I'd say his lying is already at or below the 60% level. ;)

Trump isn't Patton. FFS, do you even read the bull**** that you type?

Both communicate pretty directly and hurt the feelings of tender souls easily offended.

Both were very effective in their chosen field.

Both sneered at pretentious, preening prima donnas while fitting the same description.

Both did what others demonstrated previously was impossible to do.

The fact is pretty obvious here. If there is a job you really want to see accomplished, give it to Trump. Same with Patton.

For better or worse, these two would get it done. There may not be an unbroken plate left in the China shop, but the job assigned will get done.

Patton was similarly gentle in his methods to the demonstrated approaches we have seen from Trump.

Is it that you like Patton and hate Trump? Where do you find differences in their actual approaches?

Patton could speak coherently and had an IQ above room temperature. he was also a general and not a cult leader.
