Anthony60 created a posted in the mainstream section, however, I wanted to bring up how dangerous these proposals would be:

Sen. Elizabeth Warren wants to ban members of Congress and the White House staff from owning individual stocks — and replace them with government-managed investment accounts.

Warren's new push to sever corporate power from the federal government follows another proposal she outlined less than a week earlier called The Accountable Capitalism Act. That bill would establish a system of federal charters requiring company directors to consider the broader impact of their actions beyond solely their own shareholders.

The Anti-Corruption and Public Integrity Act

The Accountable Capitalism Act

It is safe to say Elizabeth Warren hates capitalism and promotes Crony capitalism. Government-managed investment accounts are a terrible idea. I can only imagine how badly these accounts would perform.

Elizabeth Warren IMO is misguided. Corporations are already accountable to the states and governments. We don't need additional laws on the book or an Office of United States Corporations.

What people like her do not understand is that not all inequality is bad. These are such bad bills, I cannot even take it seriously.

A great idea to reduce corruption in the federal government

The ability to buy senators and congress members will be reduced and potentially make them represent the people rather than the highest bidder

So, providing more power to the federal government reduces corruption?

These bills actually produce the opposite. They provide less accountability to CEO's and increases the ability to buy senators and congress members.

man i hope the left wing nuttys run liz warren. that would be a dream come true.

easier win for trump than hillary

Liberals want to punish companies for being successful. Tell me why Amazon needs to "consider the broader impact of their actions beyond solely their own shareholders" when the majority of their customers are not shareholders?

It is lunacy.

My post was in reference to this part of your post

Heck the US just had a Congressman get busted on insider trading. How many other use their position to enrich themselves at the expense of the nation?

The US needs to be better. Or it can go further down the banana republic route

So will this be extended to family members and friends of members of Congress as well?

I am curious where Elizabeth Warren's wealth came from. I would guess she has benefited from individual stocks.... just sayin'

Huh. You're conflating two different bills that do two different things. What a surprise!

The anti-corruption one has some very good ideas, and I can understand how it might confuse some people who think they can talk about it w/out being at all familiar with it.

I would say immediate family members who live in the same household should be subject to the same condition. Not friends

But any signs of insider trading should be investigated and punished far more harshly than for the general public.

It is a silly rule. "x congressmen" can just give money to his cousin/nephew/friend/niece/etc.

Yes convictions of criminals reduces crimes. Humans are inherently corrupt by nature and only a higher power can save them from themselves. We must govern with that in mind. Trump is the perfect example. He has gotten away with crimes his whole life and look where it led him. His whole world is about to go down in flames.

Why do you think these bills favor crony capitalism? They seem to do just the opposite.

lol..judging by your reply, it looks like you have no idea what the bill says.

I absolutely do know. Would you like me to educate you on the subject matter? I have been a bit distracted lately.

What is her net worth?

Liz lists her net worth per Congress filings as between 3.7 and 10 million. Joint net income at around 1 million.

She has extensive holdings in a Harvard mutual fund. That + income from books and her professor husbands salary.
