Some call Elon Musk the Thomas Edison of our generation. Other's call him a con man who doesn't keep his word.

Where do you stand? Is he a brilliant mind changing our world or a swindler who is taking his followers for a ride?

I feel like there's a joke in there.

As for Musk, I think he's generally genuine, but also definitely over estimates how easy/well things will be. But he's the type of entrepreneur that we can always use more of

I'd say creating an organization structured more efficiently and effectively than NASA speaks for itself.

Anyone who has ever done any cutting edge research knows that there are many more failures than successes.
I think Musk is willing to try different things knowing that some will not succeed.
In my mind that makes him more inventor than con man.

Somewhere in between Id say. Musk has done well in starting up companies that can capture the public's imagination, but his cult of personality is his own undoing- he makes way too many promises and can't seem to settle down. It seems he gets easily distracted by some new idea and he cannot take criticism very well. Tesla has yet to post a profit and SpaceX has yet to succeed in their lofty goals. He needs to shut up, put his head down and work.

Could he be both?

I have a son who is 16 years old. He, and many of his friends, literally worship Elon Musk and they all want to be him when they grow up. I don't know how to feel about that.
