anyway, that's the theory:

In September, while attempting to garner support for the Republicans massive tax overhaul, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) visited a Harley Davidson plant in his home state of Wisconsin. “Tax reform can put American manufacturers and American companies like Harley-Davidson on a much better footing to compete in the global economy and keep jobs in America,” he said.
Harley-Davidson announced that it would be laying off 800 of the company’s employees and closing down its Kansas City plant entirely, shifting it’s operations to York, Pennsylvania, with a net loss of 350 jobs.
Harley-Davidson noted that it would be opening another facility in Bangkok, Thailand. According to Michael Pflughoeft, a spokesman for the company, the decision was “separate and unrelated” to the Kansas City plant closing.

It's amazing how dumb people are that they actually believe that bull**** in spite of 40 years of evidence to the contrary. Just like Walmart taking their tax breaks and buying back stocks. Greedy ****ers don't care about people

The problem with the theory is the flawed assumption that all other factors are constant, not possible at all.

Biggest problem is some shallow thinkers expect instantaneous results. The tax plan has been in effect a whooping five months now. We saw some raises, bonuses and benefits upgrades. More to come.

More layoffs, maybe you missed it but we are headed for a trade war with many of our own best trading partners. Be prepared to learn some humility because this is not going well. We have both Mexico and Canada both po'ed over the NAFTA negotiations, we are threatening our European trade partners over Iran, and we are imposing tariffs on China our biggest trade partner and now many are starting to align with each other against us. This is not something we can win, sure they would hurt to a degree, but we would have an economic downturn that would make the last Recession look like a walk in the park, and in the end we lose forever our dominance in the world trade markets. Take a wild guess who is the direct cause of where we are and are heading, psst it is not the Dems or any of their leaders, that honor falls directly on the Repubs and especially on trump. If things go where they look to be headed no candidate belonging to the GOP could get elected as head dog catcher, not that having the Dems in complete control would be all that much better, but they will at least be able to claim that it was not they that created the mess we would be in. None of which would matter to the Millions out of work with the government unable to provide any sort of help. A Storm is coming and it is going to be very bad. Hey, who knows, I might be wrong, we better pray that I am, otherwise that us that for this grand experiment called the USA.

You can fling around all the emotion-laden hysteria you wish. Like I said, things don't happen immediately.

We have seen many admins claiming manna from the heavens from tax breaks.....but some folks never learn

So, when the economy in general is up, it is not due to the tax cuts, nor is it due to anything that the current administration has done.

Nope, didn't say that. The effects of the tax bill is not a one time, instantaneous event.

But, yes, the current rise is due to one thing the current administration did - it got elected and rid the White House of the anti-business, anti-success driven Obamanomics of the past eight years.

From the link:

Pflughoeft??? Really? He stuck with that name???

HD, a company that makes mainly large displacement (luxury?) street motorcycles, is also not "the economy in general". I have never spent $20K on a motor vehicle in my life and am not likely to ever do so.

Sure...because teh us macro wasnt on the rise under teh black guy

So you think cutting taxes will offset the impact of trade wars...... the koolaid must be Extra strong today.

If it is, it's been you drinking it. I never came close to saying anything like that. I'm going to be surprised if we get into any protracted trade wars.

I've never wanted a Harley either, or really any sort of suacycle. They scare me.

So, we can let them go overseas, American icon or not, along with all but two Ford cars, and Carrier, that's OK. We're making America great again and bringing back manufacturing jobs. Right?

There ya go, nasty surprises in your future.
Difference between us is I am not a Party Droid, I am an American that only cares about the Nation and it's future, I could not care less about either Party or trump. Speaking of which, I saw him as a snake oil salesmen from day 1, he is clueless and a rank amatuer that has no idea what the hell he is doing, he has proven me right time and time again. Before you say something else stupid, I did not support the Bitch either. My only regret is that Both could not lose and mistaken idea that by voting nearly straight Republican that they could keep him on a short leash. So do not talk to me about delusions, Every thing I said about trump has come to pass and your myopic veiw of him shows only that he still pulling your strings, my guess is by the time, if ever, you realize that you elected an Idiot it really will not matter.
Good Day, Sir, you are Dismissed.

HD is unlikely to go totally overseas. As I understand, it they use off-shore production only for their export market.

Thanks for the insult, lowers the level of your arguments. I am not a "party droid" but I do know the power of solid, reasonable tax rates and the power of creative people when they have resources and support from government. And I don't have to like the guy making it happen.

LOL, when you got nothing bluster and attack.

So they closed a plant in the USA and opened one in Thailand? That makes no sense unless their US market is closing down.

They closed what was (recently?) added in KC and moved (added?) that to its York, PA plant(s). HD also has a plant in Brazil.

Twenty grand is chicken feed in terms of motor vehicles today.
You'll be buying a lot of used cars, and that's fine but don't pretend that it's not the market because it is the market today.
The US economy in general, where motor vehicles is concerned, STARTS at around fourteen thousand for a bare bones two seater economy pickup truck and goes upward from there.

Yes, we're talking MSRP, but nevertheless, if you want a new car these days, twenty grand is fair to middlin' territory.
If you want luxury and features, prepare to go northward of thirty-five.
If you want to go all out, you might wind up going as high as eighty-grand.

Yes, they're shifting operations to PA, with a net loss of jobs:
