America needs bold increases in the Minimum Wage

Too complicated. Persons are Tourists if they haven't applied for citizenship.

Works in the rest of the world.

I did not invent that process as explained. I just reported how it's done in Europe.

A tourist abroad has only a permanent residence in their home-country. One can't get a job in Europe (which is considered "permanency") with only their passport. I awaited two-months before those papers arrived and allowed me an Identification Card in France as a permanent resident - which effectively meant that I "paid taxes on income earned" and was afforded the accompanying "social services". Like national healthcare.

Because there is no such law. And that happened because Americans are uninformed regarding the matter of Acute Income Disparity that afflicts the American economy.

Also, too many Americans apparently figure that their vote "doesn't actually count". Which, of course, is true when anyone's vote is manipulated by the Electoral College. The EC has elected a PotUS five times in our history that actually lost the popular-vote. Twice in the past 30 years; namely, Al Gore and Hillary!

And now, of course, we add to that list Donald Dork.

Moreover, ours is not only a warped democracy but even a lazy one. From Pew Research: U.S. trails most developed countries in voter turnout, excerpt:
(See the infographic for the actual comparative results in the link given above.)

It happened under "capitalism", not socialism. The right wing still only talks about Natural Rights, but Only if it is specifically about guns.

We are all "good capitalists" - we have little choice. Barter has been outdated since money-for-exchange was first coined in the 7th century Before Christ.

What is difficult to find is a "fair capitalist system". Because human beings think it justified that the richest prevail as regards the accumulation of Wealth in any economy. Which can only happen when upper-income taxation is persistently low.

In fact, we admire the rich because we aspire to be one of them. (Very human is that perspective though whether one earns 10 million dollars a year or 10 billion does not change one's lifestyle one iota.)

It is going to take a long while to change that common but puerile attitude ...

I agree to disagree. The right wing in the US, prefers to eschew capitalism at every opportunity, for their socialism on a national basis; just look at their public policies.

No, it doesn't. And, We have a Statue of Liberty. Coincidence or conspiracy.

And, We have a Statue of Liberty.

Only because it was donated to you by the French government. The statue is actually the Roman goddess "Liberta", and was conceived/designed by a French architect called Bertholdi.

The only attribute that is American is the island on which the statue was mounted.

From WikiP:
Bartholdi was inspired by a French law professor and politician, Édouard René de Laboulaye, who is said to have commented in 1865 that any monument raised to U.S. independence would properly be a joint project of the French and U.S. peoples. Because of the post-war instability in France, work on the statue did not commence until the early 1870s. In 1875, Laboulaye proposed that the French finance the statue and the U.S. provide the site and build the pedestal.

The Right does not "eschew" capitalism.

On the contrary - they are rabidly fond of it. It has made them millionaires and billionaires and, thus, obtained them the admiration and idolatry of a great many people who are fascinated by "what's in it for me, me, me".

Capitalism, if not managed for the greater human benefit, by means of manipulated upper-income taxation can separate an economy starkly between the haves and the have-nots.

Which is exactly what it has achieved in the US:

Just so you know, if we ever have to give it back; there will be No Doubt, the right is to blame.

Nothing but partisan information?

In 2013 wealth inequality in the U.S. was greater than in most developed countries other than Switzerland and Denmark.[27] In the United States, the use of offshore holdings is exceptionally small compared to Europe, where much of the wealth of the top percentiles is kept in offshore holdings.--https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wealth_inequality_in_the_United_States

Nothing but partisan information?

Partisan, how?

Most of those 0.01Percenters in your infographic are or give handsomely to the Replicant Party?

You betcha!

And yet they keep winning national elections and are ripping off the American economy to enrich themselves by means of grossly unfair upper-income taxation rates.

How stoopid can a country get? Very!

(Taxation should be confiscatory - 100% - above a certain level. Say, 2 megabucks a year.) And riches should not be transferred by means of inheritance.

Okay, here's a scenario....Johnny is a slow learner, Johnny rents a room in a boarding house. Johnny likes to work, it gives Johnny the resources to pay for his basic needs. Johnny, as I stated, is a slow learner, so Johnny can only perform the most basic tasks and doesn't have the mental facilities to increase his skills. Johnny is thankful for his minimum wage job...the business owner treats him well. Johnny is basically happy. There are many, many people like Johnny. Now, some leftie "do gooder" gets in Johnny's ear and tells him that he's underpaid. Johnny soon becomes irritated and asks for a raise from $8 an hour to $15 an hour, he gets a 10% raise, due to his work history, but is still agitated because he was told by some loser that he's under paid. The irritated Johnny starts to resent the owner of the business and starts slacking off. Johnny gets replaced by another person like Johnny who is grateful for the job. Johnny is now homeless.

Minimum wage jobs are there for minimum skilled people and new employees entering the workforce. These are the jobs that have high turnover due to their nature...most people's skills increase and they move on...if you stay in that position longer than a few years, it speaks volumes about your ability to grow.

just one more issue with the right wing; they love to spend the (other) Peoples' money on their socialism on a national basis, and then refuse to pay taxes for it.

Taking advantage of the slow, is a capital way of life.

How many People in that category, actually find good employment; especially when "quicker" labor also use some money until a better job comes up?

Equal protection of the law for Persons is all that is asked and required. Employment is at-will in our at-will employment States. Unemployment compensation simply for being unemployed is more cost effective and enables Individuals to pursue Happiness in a manner that suits them best.

You know why there are speed limits on highways? Because speed kills.

Wanna know why any salary below the level of Poverty threshold kills? No?

Thought not.

Because you and your ilk think that people have no natural-right to earn a salary permitting them to live decently. Life is a free-for-all and those below the poverty-threshold are losers anyway.

So they deserve to eke out a living and die there.

Neanderthal that you are ..

People have no natural right to any salary at all. Maybe in France, but not in the USA.

Our natural rights are mostly defined by the first 10 amendments. The closest we get is the right to pursue happiness.

lol. just right wing propaganda and rhetoric to cover their socialism on a national basis; they Only allege to subscribe to the whole and entire concept of natural rights, when it is specifically about guns.

Left wing propaganda. There is no mention of salary rights in the BOR.

Nobody is taking advantage of anyone. In fact, many slow learners are actually good employees, as long as they have the soft skills. If they artificially raise wages for them, they would be out of a job.

Nobody is dying because they have low skills. Talk about hyperbole! But I digress, and I've asked this without ever getting an answer many, many times. There are thousands of very wealthy socialist/progressives who are constantly screeching about raising the minimum wage. Weird how none of them will open franchises in poor neighborhoods, pay $15 an hour, full benefits, paid time off, child care costs, maternity leave and all of the other perks that they make laws for others to abide by. If it can be done, why not lead the way. Show us. Prove to us that you can offer all of that and be profitable. They won't because they can't.

Socialist mantra...."for thee, not for me" If you understood the economy, you wouldn't be a socialist.

Since when did one's "right to earn a specific wage" depend on one's household size and/or (other) household income? You make up stuff and then argue (assert?) that it is so.

First of all, the federal MW (if earned on a full-time basis) places that worker (the one actually employed) above the FPL. The federal MW does not, however, vary either based on that worker's household size or (other) income earned within that worker's household.

It makes no more sense to pay a worker that lacks minor dependents in their household or happens to have other income within their household less than it makes to pay a worker with minor dependents in their household more - pay is based on what is required to attract and retain qualified labor alone (so long as it is not below the federal MW) not upon what may (or may not) constitute a "living wage" based on a particualr worker's household size and/or other household income.

The idea of "from each according to their ability, to each according to their need" has no place in US labor law.

Just as a worker liviung in a household that already makes more than the FPL is no reason for an employer to pay them less, a worker who has many minor dependents in their household is no reason for an employer to pay them more.

Wage slavery? Unemployment compensation simply for being unemployed would enable Individuals to pursue productive avenues at their own pace. And enter the labor market if and when they are ready; not, simply because they must circulate capital under our form of capitalism.

The nation is supposed to support you simply because you don't feel like working?

Daniel hits a foul ball. Way out in left field.
