States do require you to buy commercial grade items to open a business that prepares food. You have been given evidence. Saying no is not a debate.

DeStefano is among a group of home bakers who have been battling since 2009 for New Jersey to catch up to almost every other state in having a cottage food law that would allow for them to join in a tradition that supporters say is as American as the apple pie they're not legally allowed to sell.

Martha Rabello, 36, of Cranford, rents out space at commercial kitchens. She said that a cottage food law would help people get started out without having to either spend $15,000 or more to build a commercial kitchen or find a rental space, which she said costs about $20 per hour.

You just proved yourself wrong. The quote you posted clearly states that they can rent a commercial kitchen, so they do NOT have to buy a commercial oven

Thats the question...how do you become sure if something is safe to eat or not? Are you going to send samples to a lab? Or demand to see if the woman's kitchen is clean before you eat her cinnamon buns or what?

You would depend on reputation and Consumer Reports so as to not involve govt monopoly which we know is naturally corrupt and liberal.
 
Certainly, having inspections and safe food standards is better than none at all.

Thank you for being oblivious to government interference costing someone more to run a cottage business. That was the point, not the exact cost.

Sangha, lets just say she decides not to set up a commercial over and rents a facility for 30 hours a week. It will cost over $30,000 the first year. The commercial kitchen is the CHEAPER remedy.

Do you realize that without a commercial oven, she would have to work 3 times as many hours (ie 90hr/wk) to make the same amount of cookies? You are talking about a business, not a sideline for some talented hausfrau. If she wants to start a business, she will have to invest some money

10 hrs/wk in a commercial kitchen is like 30 hours at home and that is just the baking part. You still have got this baker starting a full time business

There is an issue more than just 'being able to sell cookies'. There is a matter of 'do you make the health standards'.

well if she kills or harms someone she can be sued as can be her distributors and retailers as can be the private rating company. Why not have libturd govt inspectors inspect every residential kitchen on America once a week?
