...it's dropped from almost 104 less than a month ago to back under 100 today.

And with the Trump administration (foolishly) calling for a weaker dollar (at least in the short term)...it is probably going even lower.

Should bode well for my precious metals.

And for those of you who think 'a weak dollar is good for trade'.

ONLY if you are a net exporter...which America DEFINITELY is not.

A much weaker dollar means much higher fuel prices...among other things.

We shall see.

I guess you didn't look at the 6 month, or hell even the 3 month one. Its not "tanking".

I mean you can simply look at since Trump was elected to now to see that it isn't tanking. But that would go against the narrative.

His post was strictly about the data during the dates he set.

Your complaint is trying to move the goalposts. Hey, if you take the number of goals that Messi and I scored together, I look pretty good, no?

Like I said, it doesn't fit the narrative, but I understand. If you want to be dishonest about it go ahead.

That's an interesting diversion from the fact that our President is calling for a weaker dollar in our import/consumer based economy.

If history is any indication, we can the poor to lash out with violence if President Trump gets his way for no discernible gain. Luckily, i think he will be spared by his own incompetence.

The WOT is largely about trying to save the largest running Ponzi Scheme in world history so it will be a miracle if it does not completely tank unless a mediator like bitcoin can successfully underwrite the transition to a different Ponzi Scheme.

There's a difference between a short-term dip and "tanking."

There's a difference between a short-term dip and "tanking."

'Tanking' means something is going down...it does not reference a time frame. It can be over an hour, a day, a year or even a minute.

And the dollar index dropping from almost 104 to under 100 in less than a month DEFINITELY qualifies as 'tanking'.

No, "tanking" usually means a significant and sustained drop.

Against the 365-day trend, it's a blip.

No, it does not.

'DEFINITION of 'In The Tank'
A slang term referring to very poor performance, as in that of a security, sector or market. A security, sector or market can be considered "in the tank" once it has performed very poorly or well below expectations. A security, sector or market is said to "be tanking" while it is on its way down. An investor might say his investments are in the tank, meaning they are not doing well. Likewise, an investor could refer to her investments as tanking when the positions are deteriorating.'

No mention of time frame whatsoever.

I am not arguing with you on this.

You don't like it, take it up with Investopedia.

Pretty silly post. Who believes that a comment by Trump impacted one of the biggest markets in the world.

Do you think that the prior administration in league with the Federal Reserve did not execute policies that helped drive down the dollar. Same is being done by the ECB and Bank of Japan.

All done to try and increase GDP growth (which has failed worldwide).

Trump wants manufacturing to come back to the US. A strong dollar makes us less competitive especially regarding labor. So democrats have decried that the Trump rhetoric has pushed the Mexican Peso to about 20:1 and now you are decrying a weakening of the dollar.

You folks need to get your talking points staight.

Wow. Take your little ball and march thtwait home, why don't you? I mean, seriously.

Meanwhile, a short-term dip is not "tanking." According to your silliness, everything "tanks" multiple times per day.

Wow, you just proved that you know little about macroeconomics. Most economists would be laughing at your comment, IMO.

When the Fed even hints at something, the market's can go way up or down almost instantly. Whenever a big shot says anything - the market's take great notice. If you truly understood economics, you would know this as this is absolutely common knowledge amongst investors.

And it was not Trump that said something, it was his Treasury Secratary nominee

No offense, but here is some sincere advice...don't comment on things in matter-of-fact ways when you do not understand them and are just guessing.

We are done on this.

Good day.

A low dollar is better for exports.

True.

But America is a net importer with a huge trade deficit.

All a weak dollar does is make most things more expensive for Americans - like gas and electronics and steel and...

No miracle. The World Banking Cabal will not allow the dollar to drop very far until they have reinvested in something else that they can control. Federal Reserve is a private bank. China won't allow the dollar to drop much because we are their largest trading partner and it would drop their revenue. If the BRICS can re-organize and set up an alternative to SWIFT and CHIPS, the dollar would be in big trouble. That is why they want to demonize Russia and China and have sanctions and embargos against those economies. They don't want yuan and rubles as reserve currencies because a Reserve Currency is a source of Big Power.

So,

...let me get this straight-

-FIRST he wants to ban all Muslims.
-THEN he wants us to stop buying from EUROPE.

...NOW THIS!?

What in the exact ****...

Wow. Take your little ball and march thtwait home, why don't you? I mean, seriously.
No...but why should I waste my time with people who clearly do not know what they are talking about but claim otherwise?

LOL...you just proved right there that you rarely if EVER read economic news (and since Kushinator repped you for your post, clearly he doesn't either).

Sooo...it looks like business insider, marketwatch, financial post, aol and the nasdaq (and I could go on and on) all disagree with you.

And most of those were in reference to DAILY tanks.

You were saying oh macroeconomic genius...?

And if you feel the need to call it dishonest so you can feel right..go ahead.

One thing is clear and that is that Obama is trying to make Trump look bad by purposely devaluing the dollar.
