Preconventional discussion: Bill of rights, search and seizure

Well, it is not entire for one thing, you are not allowed to vote as a landed immigrant.

But, under international convention legal aliens are allowed the same basic human rights as natural citizens.

The same must be extended to refugees, however the latest accord specifies that refugees be granted those rights upon landing. The US, wisely, has chosen not to sign that particular extension, saving itself snake head boat people.

But the existing law becomes null and void if the new Constitution adopts a different concept. So that is now part of the debate--what rights, privileges, access to public services, etc. will non citizens have?

Well, if you want to open that door, it isn't locked.

But, I ask this, as Intel, Boeing, Microsoft, Google, large Healthco, hospitals and so forth spend millions recruiting off shore to fill their technological needs, will granting second class status to potential immigrants help or hinder their efforts?

Should the US move in that direction, I would suspect countries like Sweden, Germany and Canada would exploit that.

I like it, with two edits

i believe under international law and UN conventions prevent that. Landed immigrants must have the same constitutional rights as citizens.

International law is of no consequence. Especially since said "country" has not agreed to abide said international law. Further a landed immigrate is not a naturalized immigrate and should NOT have the same rights.

According to our constitution, which we are not required to adhere to, some rights apply to all "persons" (ex the right to remain silent) while other rights (ex the right to vote) are reserved to citizens.

I agree.
