Out of these 20 people, 5 of them have specifically asked to be removed from our membership. The other 15 have not voted in any of the votes that we have held. Should we assume that they have no interest? Should we assume they were away and unavailable? Should we leave them on the roll in case they want to vote later on in the future?

I have no authority to remove any of these people from the list. I think it is important to define who we are. Currently, we are 83 members who have voted, 'yes' in a thread started by PirateMk1. That includes all 20 of these people.

My thinking is that if these people aren't interested enough to vote and/or aren't available to vote then they will be unable to help out in other ways. They have the potential to dilute the vote of those who are putting in the effort to participate.

In my opinion, remove from the Notification List the five who requested to be removed,. Otherwise, leave the rest as is.

The convention is moving towards discussion of the issues and when from the mechanics. Maybe people will become more interested as the discussions become more interesting.

Maybe someone should pull out the controversial ideas. We can discuss gun rights, abortion, gay marriage, marijuana, state rights, Trayvon Martin or something like that just to generate a little interest. They might accidentally look at the other threads while they are here.

I'm going to be pretty busy coming up this month, so I won't be able to actively participate in this like I had originally planned. Please remove me. Thank you

I would say yes remove them - but before doing so, give them one last notification. No response would = removal. Any who do respond and say they are still interested could be kept on - but people's lives change and for many in the US the Holidays will take up more time than usual.

I'd suggest that self removal or no response is permanent removal. No backsies.

I'll continue to not participate, most especially if i keep being harassed in this manner. TEN ****ing notifications of being "quoted" for something i never said. Yes PLEASE remove me

Do you think that we need to vote on a list of members? We currently have 83 members. I have removed none of them. I have taken five off of the contact list.

I would not think so - my opinion only - this is an administrative action. Everyone gets fair warning (and a period of time to respond) after which they are removed.

Personally, those notifications are helping keep me informed as to what the heck is going on.
Real life can be a distraction at times.
All you have to do is click on the "Who Quoted Me" quick link once, and the notifications disappear.
Not much of a hassle.

You can remove me. I think this project is great, but it looks I can't devote the time I thought I would be able to. I hate it when real life gets in the way of my fun. :)

Remove me as well. Thanks, but too many threads, too Roberts Rules, too much pettifogging around the current one instead of any effort to think of a more holistic governmental structure

Wait... You mean we did not elect someone to kick people out? That's a fail.

I have removed your name from the Notification List. However, you are still a member so if you change your mind, you can always participate. Heck, even if you weren't a member you could still participate. We really don't have much in the way of rules when it comes to stuff like that.

I have removed your name from the notification list as well but like BB, you're still a member.

As far as too many threads, I count only 8 threads started in the last week, slightly more than one a day on average. The entire forum has 32 threads started over a period over a month - again about a thread a day.

WRT the "pettifogging" - if you have an idea of a better way to approach this, it's going to be hard for anyone to consider it if you keep it to yourself.

Please remove me.

Like the others who have requested, I have removed you from my Notification List but you will remain a member of the convention. You can participate as much or as little as you please, or not at all. If you change your mind, you are free to join in at a later date.

I'm busy right now and unable to participate. It's a great idea and seems like a lot o fun but I should probably be removed from the list.

Is this the right thread to bring this up?
It seems that the initial enthusiasm has waned, and some members have asked to be removed.
When I read this
http://www.debatepolitics.com/dp-co...10290-message-president-3.html#post1064070719
I began to wonder how many others feel the same.
While the idea of a constitutional convention is still intriguing, it seems that some have resorted to partisan bickering and with that, have taken the fun out of this exercise of compromise.
So I am really not sure if it is people like Jango and I who should excuse themselves from this convention, of it we should remove those who can't seem to put their own ego aside for the time being.
This should be discussed if we want to go any further.
Thank you for your time

I would encourage you and Jango to post on those threads; I'd love to see more input (even if it contradicts mine) on those threads. And if you can come up with good compromises, that would be interesting to read!

I may even be one of those people that you think can't put my ego aside; if so, I apologize, I certainly have tried to be calm and reasonable and to listen to others, but I'm sure I've failed multiple times. But the more people we have there, the less it becomes "A vs. B" and the more it becomes a spirited conversation.
