I am 5'6 and now that I'm older I am getting more dates, but when I was in school college and HS I never got propositioned for dates. I think my height has a lot to do with it. I was always friend-zoned because of that. I see a lot of girls who would never date a guy who is my height simply because I am short. No other reason. Nothing I can work on to change.

I've been height-shamed a number of times and probably overlooked and let go because of my height. Online dating is even worse. I've been bullied about my height (telling the truth ya know that quality they say is so important) and laughed at for even messaging women who were taller than me. I can match the qualities this girl is looking for 100% but she wants a guy who is 6 feet or taller? Is that realistic? That actually cuts out most of the men on the planet.

I'd like to discuss the topic about short men and dating, not particularly my experiences. I was just highlighting them so as you can see what we short men have to put up with :)

"Not interested if under 6 ft" is a rather common theme on female dating profiles. But sexual preferences and standards are the kind of discrimination that I'm fine with. You're not entitled sex with anyone, when it comes to who people will spend their night/lives with its perfectly okay to not be an equal opportunity lover.

To say there is a stigma against short men is like saying there is a stigma against broke men, or fat/ugly/old women.

There most certainly is. Most women want a man who is taller than they are just like most men want a woman who won't crush them to death in bed. :2razz:

Money and power makes you ten feet tall. Get both and height does not matter

If you are getting more dates its probably the projection of confidence. I am 5'5" and look like hairless albino gorilla. I just have balls of titanium. Most women seem to like that. I project confidence bordering on arrogance and reckless and very masculine. Or at least I used when I used to go hunting. Wishy washy gets nowhere.

Don't knock those Amazonian type women, they be fun living dangerously.

There is definitely a stigma, but it is surmountable.

How much would you bet that a woman would go out with an out of work actor that was over 6ft tall over a 5'6 relatively successful man who lives a regular life working 9-5 job? They'll pick the 6ft tall guy every time with the bonus that's he's an actor :lamo

So I'm not so sure your broke analogy works at least not with people my age. 20s-30s

6'1"

:2dancing:

What's that? I can't hear ya down there.

Last night while dining out I noticed a young couple where the lady was over 6' and the guy was no taller than 5'3".

Some women don't mind shorter guys, most would prefer a taller guy though. It's a matter of finding a lady who matches your taste, and who you also match her taste.

Worse ways to go...

Oh they will pick the 5'6" guy poor as church mouse over the 6'1" rich dude, if he projects masculinity, intelligence, a bit of a bad boy attitude, and boatload of confidence. Women are curious creatures, they want to know why you are confident. That's the foot in the door.

Definitely. In my case most of my dates or gfs didn't care about height, but they were still curious about it.

Be what you want, M R.

Be confident, be assertive without being rude.

Be manly, and you will attract the women you want.

No one says that anyone is entitled to sex. You're just kinda a shallow doucher to let height be the make or break if everything else is a go.

It's really about how tall you are when you are standing on your wallet!

And depending on your age and crowd, you really need to get your "look" together, even if you have to go to a mall out of town and deal with a salesman that understands your tastes.

Spend the money to look your best. It's the best investment you can make.

Ahh, no. No one is a shallow doucher if they reject anyone for ANY reason. People have preferences. Doesn't mean they are douches if they prefer to date those who meet them. I don't hold that against anyone.

My son is 6'4" and is usually only interested in short women .:doh We are talking about over a foot shorter. :lamo

In my dating days, I usually stuck to men my height or taller. (I am 5'9") But that was more about my insecurity with my own height than about his.

Depends on the woman. Even if 90% of all women would not date you, that would still leave millions of women who would.

You can consult the linked information and see that most women are under 5' 6" in height. That doesn't mean they don't want to date taller men, but you always have the option of pointing out to them that they are somewhat diminutive in height themselves. Furthermore, you'll notice that eventually gravity wins here on earth. The older you are, the shorter you become.

Honestly, I think girth is the more critical dimension. Please consider the following:

Waist-to-height ratio - Wikipedia

Be it a natural thing, or simply a function of how our culture has evolved, but there's an inherent attractiveness to more height. In general, women are more attracted to men who are their height or taller than those who are shorter than them. As such, as a short guy, it is an extra hurdle to overcome in many cases; but it's by no means insurmountable.

Everyone's the same height when you're on top of each other in bed.

Just saying.
