I think I disagree.
If you love a good person that treats you well, you will be filled with pride for them and your love of them.
But if you feel like you're being put through the ringer and have no pride, that's not love. Run from it!

Love of self is priority number one. You can't possibly know how to love someone else, until you know how to care for yourself. Pride is something different altogether and not related to self respect of love but more about self importance. We're all equal, though you're first responsibility is self, pride is about self only.
