At least 260 students and eight teachers from a suburban school district in Atlanta, Georgia, were quarantined after multiple students and teachers tested positive for Covid-19 during the first week of school. In statements posted on its website, the Cherokee County School District reported positive cases in at least 11 students and two staff members. Students and staff who had possible exposure with a positive case have been told to quarantine for two weeks. The students were from the county's elementary, middle and high schools. Quarantined students will receive online instruction while they stay home, the district said. The district returned to in-person learning on Monday, August 3. Cherokee County is located roughly 20 miles north of Atlanta and is home to 258,000 people.

Meanwhile, Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York gave the go-ahead for all schools in that state to physically re-open, including schools in New York City. He said all schools have met the criteria for safely reopening.

Georgia is another story. If GOP Governor Brian Kemp had followed the New York Phase template, schools there would be reopening safely like the schools in New York.

Georgia is another story. If GOP Governor Brian Kemp had followed the New York Phase template, schools there would be reopening safely like the schools in New York.

It's the Governor's responsibility to make that decision; his alone.
 
What a bunch of Georgia horse-pukky. Reopening guidelines that are more wink-wink suggestions that aren't followed. The first enforcement is when a kid publicizes a picture of a hallway full of students w/o mask, he gets suspended. Message sent. Hilarious. Typical Red State. Just like before when they reopened earlier than was the guidelines with loose reopen guidelines, didn't follow them, are still suffering from the result, and now reopen schools the same way. Kemp has a Georgia peach-pit brain and so do the poor Trump cult fools that that send in their children to follow this Pied-Piper of Georgia.

I'm starting to support jailing the Republicans who forced them open in order to kiss Tweety's ass. It's negligent homicide. I would suggest house arrest so that they don't spread their dumbassery and and illnesses to others.

The schools are open; it's the parent's decision to send the children to school as is the teachers' decisions to work ... not the Gov's responsibility for individual responses.

his school is doing a partial reopening. i haven't been able to find out if his dad is forcing him to be at risk for political gain. i hope not. no one deserves to get sick because his father is a cretin.
