i figured growing out my hair was cheaper than buying a Porsche for my midlife crisis. how about you? is your spouse good at cutting it? i've noticed that most people at work still look the same, so either they are doing it themselves or they are risking getting breathed on at the Great Clips. as for me, i don't really care if i ever see my ears again. i will either grow mine to look like Tom Hanks in Castaway or until my wife tells me enough, dude. i'm guessing that it will be the latter.

I taught myself, years ago, to cut my own hair. Bought the mirrors and good scissors and all that. The key is to do just a little at a time. Naturally, it's easier to trim what you missed than to wait for "That" spot to grow. Wasn't near as hard to do as I thought it would be.
Like your picture. Reminds me of a cool actor.. :)

I'm lucky. They are back open in New Hampshire so my hair is back to normal. My husband no longer has a bowl cut and my kids are no longer looking like Deadheads.

the photo is actually the cool actor. i'd look a lot like his skinny brother though, if he had one.

My wife cuts our hair.

thx for this thread

my family has been going to this one barber ever since we came here over 20 years ago and he has been open for a while

i asked my wife to tell me when it starts looking stupid. i already got my first polite compliment about it at work that probably really meant "what is going on with you?" i'm sort of wondering how far i can take it.

My wife has cut my hair twice, short both times.

Years ago I would let it grow for a long time before cutting it ( mad scientist but brown instead of grey)

My mother in law just cut my sons hair very short ( buzz cut and he hated it)

Nope...opposite problem. My wife is a hairstylist. At first it was cool, then I became increasingly afraid, due to the amount of cut eye I was getting from the covid hair crowd, that some Karen was about to whoop my ass for getting a "black market" haircut... ;)

And, yes, I've heard the term "black market haircut" in serious conversation... :lamo

Did your wife ever tell you that you looked stupid?

I’m like the OP, last cut was February, maybe March. I was a trend-setter in jr high, as far as fashion and coiffure. I got lazy and grew a beard a few years ago and got a decent set of clippers to keep it in line. The missus has volunteered to help, but I am just not there yet.

i like that.

i've been wondering what i'll say if it actually gets long. i was growing it out before i got the interview years back, but i cut it to help me get the job. my job these days only wants me to turn the impossible into possible and doesn't care about the hair part as much. i have been delivering on the former.

I've been cutting my own hair for a decade. Easy when you keep it short.

Just use two different blades on the trimmer and the setting (I'm forgetting the term) to smooth the portions that used different blades.

I was just teasing. :) (Country ..old men..) He was one bad-ass dude!

i've done that hairstyle once before right around the time the movie came out. i looked very much like him on my license picture back then. then i cut it off. probably should have kept it and rocked it. however, thank you, tons of Rogaine since my early 30s, and on we grow.

i have a really good set of clippers now that was my wife's dad's. i have toyed around with the idea of just hitting it with the number three permanently, but i'm on a long hair right now. at my age, you never know when it will be your last hair hurrah. i'm going for it right now, though.

I have this one:

Robot Check

(goes to amazon)

Looks like it's already an outdated model. But I'm sure the new one is just as good. Wahl. Solid brand.

Yeah, I use three mostly all over, but 2 on the edges. And then for maybe the last cm on certain parts, my beard trimmer, set to something a little shorter.

I used to use these, and the process took three times longer....

no, she even approved when i had a stupidly long scraggly beard last time. i looked like Paul Bunyan's homeless twin. she said i looked like Keanu Reeves. i love blind women.

;)

she has promised to tell me when i look stupid this time around.

man, that's pro style. i'll have to check to see which set that i have. either way, i'm not cutting for a while. if i stop shaving, the set will be used to tame the beard. i started a Corona beard at the same time as the hair, but then i realized after two weeks that i was touching it constantly. i decided that this was not a good idea, so i shaved it.

I didn’t stock up on toilet paper or hand sanitizer or bottled water but it has been my hoard of baseball caps time to shine.

Javier Bardem...not a bad look.

I did one of the outdoor haircuts. I was needing a haircut badly when we shut down in March. We have been DIY since recently.:lamo

Felt damn good.

Congrats on your haircut! I admit that I'm using this as an excuse to grow it out.

Yeah he got a great tip, too. It was a supercuts type place and I think the tip was more than the cut.:lamo
