I recovered from COVID!

I'm happy to announce that I have officially recovered from COVID-19! :peace I've got antibodies now, which is cool! I've got my shield of protection, I guess. :shoot Don't really know if that means I shouldn't get a vaccine when it comes, but it might be best to get one anyway. I only dealt with symptoms for a handful of days, and I've felt just fine ever since the pressure on my chest (that was making it a bit difficult to gulp air) went away. I'm glad my symptoms were only mild at the worst, and that they went away in short order. That's also why I'm not referring to myself as a "survivor"; doesn't really fit my case when other people have/are struggling so much more than I did. I'm also very happy that my girlfriend and sister were asymptomatic, and they didn't have to deal with any symptoms or issues. I'm also glad that I didn't give it to mine or my girlfriend's parents. Year2late mentioned the idea of donating my blood plasma to me, to help out struggling COVID-19 patients, but unfortunately, I only weigh 95 pounds, which is below the required weight limit to donate. My sister and my girlfriend have decided that they will donate their blood plasma in my place, since I can't.

I don't have to quarantine myself anymore, so that's good! I need to do some shopping for my apartment; I'll be moving in on the 16th! Gonna be so weird going back to college, with all of the new social-distancing rules. But hey, at least I won't be living on campus anymore! Hopefully having contracted COVID won't lead to any future medical issues in the long term, but I'm staying optimistic about it. Yee-haw! :cowboy:

Woo! 53 days for me since first symptoms! Good feeling! Recoverees rock.

From a fellow Houstonian, congrats girl! Best of luck with your studies too!

You can rent oxygen in cylinders & oxygen concentrators. If you need advice, call your local pulmonologist.

Lies! American myths about Canada are all true!

That is wonderful news and best wishes for continued recovery and return to good health and all the things and people you love!
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I think most of us wonders what it'd be like. Scary, I'm sure.

I got a covid test just a handful of days ago, which was negative, but waiting (only 2 days!) was tough.

It was definitely scary the very first time when I started feeling off, and the positive result was just what I expected being confirmed. Those first few days of symptoms were the worst of it, but then it was uphill from there. I'm just grateful I didn't have a severe case or anything.

I had a sore throat/tonsillitis for several days and it just bugged me enough to go to my nearby Patient First to ostensibly get a strep test. That was negative. Dr. asked if I wanted to test for covid and sure, why not?
I asked if some people presented like me, just a sore throat and swollen tonsils and she said definitely, yes. It can be that mild.
Glad I didn't have it?? LOL. I don't know what to think!

I also had the antibody test for the hell of it, because I was sick with many of the symptoms several months ago. That was negative too. I still won't give up the ghost that it might have been covid. It was really, really horrible.

But like you, I got over it, whatever the heck nasty virus it was.

Make sure you get enough vitamins and supplements to help get your immune system in fighting shape again!

Take care.

Yeah, with me I didn't have much of a sore throat. It did kind of hurt, but not like, that much. The first day I had symptoms I felt really tired and fatigued, and that continued into the second day. I also felt warm, like not enough where I was sweating, but enough to make it uncomfortable. I did get pressure on my chest, and that first night I had to deal with it was annoying, 'cause it was harder to breathe. It lessed after that, though.

I've been taking vitamins, and generally just taking it easy. No need to push myself too hard. :)

First: congrats!

Second: This might sounds a bit daft, but did you get tested for antibodies?

Yep. I'm disappointed that I can't donate my blood plasma, too, but that can't be helped.

Congrats on your recovery. Our daughter is 25 and just recently recovered too. It wasn't too bad for her, she just felt like a bad flu for a few days, then weak for a few more days.

I'm glad you're feeling better, and good luck returning to school!
