Godwinned in the OP. That's even faster than post 3 like the other thread.

Gov. Charlie Baker announced Monday that Massachusetts is launching a new online portal where residents can report any businesses that are violating the state's reopening guidelines.

Coronavirus in Massachusetts: Gov. Charlie Baker Baker Urges Residents to Report Businesses Not Following Reopening Guidelines – NBC Boston

Charlie Baker sets up 211 line for you to report your neighbors.

To all the Ann Franks out there...HIDE! They are back!

About time a leader act's like a leader with a spine. It's time this entire country gets a back bone and beats down this virus. It starts with leadership.

Hasn't been working out for them so well so far.

I like it.

I'd probably drive around while I'm bored looking for trouble.

What part isnt true?

Do you find yourself hiding in an attic from monsters who want to put you in a death camp? It's disgusting that you would even use that reference.

Good. The sooner that the government gets on this and acts responsibly then the sooner that life can reopen and get back to normal... which is what you really want, right? So why attack a good idea?

To be fair, this poster is alluding to the Governor using Nazi tactics, I was pointing out that what the poster said could have easily been said by Hitler.

Hopefully you see the distinction.

You’re seeing a new wave of sanity with five GOP Governors in VT, MA, OH, MD, and NH.

It's also not akin to driving around in unmarked vans, jumping out and black bagging folk.

The death camps to be concerned with are the Miller/Kushner concentration camps on the border.

This thread isn't about me. Reporting your neighbors is exactly what the Nazis did. I find it extremely disgusting, that this is going on in America. I used the reference because it fits EXACTLY. I use history to point out filth so that we don't have to relive it. Are you saying you would report your neighbors? Say yes so I can say how hitleresque.

If you report your neighbor, what do you want to happen to them?

Great... the USSR model... employ half the state to spy and report on the other half.

All this will result in is dubious motivation reporting and a ton of wasted follow up effort.

We give the government enough to keep up, spend it wisely or admit the authoritarianism means they cannot handle their own plan.

Hitler mass murdering people is the same exact thing as a governor allowing it's citizens to report businesses for violating a state order.........................How?

You have never read the Diary of Ann Frank?

I have to word this with great care. Its absolutely a good idea for govt to be proactive in enforcing these social distancing guidelines. If there is no enforcement, there is nothing. And without reporting, there is no enforcement. But we cannot sustain some witch hunt mentality either. These are complicated problems for businesses with rules changing frequently as the Governor or the mayor goes from declaring 'phase 1' to 'phase 3' or back again as information changes, and as the CDC alters its own recommendations. And its a lot harder for smaller businesses that larger ones. There are the distance rules '6 feet apart' and the masking rules, and the sanitation rules to sanitize equipment door handles etc.

There has to be wide latitude for those enforcement officers to educate and teach, to warn, to fine, and do more depends on the number of complaints and the good faith efforts they see in response. It's simply not going to be practical for small businesses to be held to the same standard as larger ones if we want them to open before their doors are closed for good. The aisles are not the same size. There is no money to hire a security guard to handle an anti-masker, which means they may have to wait for a cop, etc I am not arguing that these rules should not be enforced, I am arguing that some patience with good faith efforts is going to be crucial with reopening, whenever that time comes. So whoever is responding to these complaints has to have a lot of discretion, and that means we have to expect them to use that discretion.

it's sort of the distinction between drinking muddy water when you're expecting coffee and drinking sewage when you're expecting coffee. both are definitely going to mess up your morning. i've solved it by no longer expecting coffee.

maybe we need a Hitler scale to overcome the Godwin. i'm leaning zero to ten Hitlers instead of the usual one to five scale.
