Facebook, Twitter penalize Trump for posts containing coronavirus misinformation

Facebook on Wednesday said it removed President Trump’s post of a video clip from a Fox News interview in which he said that children are “almost immune” from covid-19.

“This video includes false claims that a group of people is immune from COVID-19 which is a violation of our policies around harmful COVID misinformation,” said Facebook spokesperson Andy Stone.

This is the first time Facebook has taken down anything from the president for violating the company’s policies on covid misinformation.

Twitter also said it will require President Trump’s campaign account to remove the post and banned the account from tweeting until it does so.

Twitter spokeswoman Liz Kelley said the tweet "is in violation of the Twitter Rules on COVID-19 misinformation. The account owner will be required to remove the Tweet before they can Tweet again.”

That's the problem with Trump Cult - whether children are immune to covid-19 is not politics. Spreading such dangerous misinformation is a health hazard for the population.

It's only misinformation if it isn't true. What percentage of children who get infected actually experience significant symptoms?

Who cares... that is hardly the point. More and more research shows that children might not get significant symptoms but they can certainly spread it to adults and THAT is the core problem. There is also new research that suggests that children could be super spreaders....

Better yet people should not be posting anything political on Facebook or Twitter.

Facebook originally was a friendly place to keep friends and relations updated on each other and our adventures and actives.

Social Media has forums where politics and political opinions are welcomed.

Sounds like misinformation to me. Key words “ MAY BE carrying” , We don’t know, but it’s possible, and the moon maybe made of cheese.

This fake pandemic will magically disappear if Biden is elected.

It's not politics, but different people in the medical field have different opinions. Regardless of how many are in the majority.

Silicon Valley trying to brainwash voters into thinking any medical opinion which might help Trump is "fake" is 100% fraudulent.

This has nothing to do with my post.

Facebook and Twitter should not be blocking the public from hearing someone's viewpoint. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. The public is intelligent enough to judge for themselves.

Please provide a link to any medical opinion stating that children are immune to covid-19.

P.S. And no, doctors that believe in devil sperm do not count - I don't know where Trump manages to find those.
