it seemed to me that he was pushing it and has for a long time

Maybe taking Hydroxychloroquine after the Covid-19 test came back, was too late. Maybe he should have started when he first recognized symptoms. What did his Doctor advise?

Are the vaccines being funded for production still looking like the best available?

Sounds like a great drug.... If you start it before you know you're sick with COVID, it might work to cure COVID!

That state senator that claims it "saved her" also had chronic lyme disease, which hydroxychloroquine is known to help the symptoms. the fact that she felt better the next day is not a real head scratcher.

The chronic lyme disease could have been screwing with her immune system which in turn made her covid symptoms worse.

Had she not have also been suffering chronic lyme disease, I have to wonder if she would have felt any relief from hydroxychloroquine.

Somehow I don't think the Michigan official decided on her own whether HCQ helped her; I'm guessing she talked to her doctor. Let's face it = A Democrat speaking up for something Trump extolled isn't an everyday occurrence.

Determining the odds would require the use of science. Right off the bat Trumpublicans and QAnon would refuse to consider the results.

I do not discount that it may have helped her, but given the fact that the drug is known to help her underlying condition, it gives me pause.

I am not specifically "against" hydroxychloroquine, I just think the most reliable trials do not show that it is effective.

I take issue with it being pushed as being pushed as some sort of miracle. I am opening to seeing more properly run trials to give us some answers.

I think there have been some good trials that had positive results, but it seems only the negative ones get wide coverage.

Trials need to be conducted in such a manner that you can be sure of the results. The most reliable trials have shown the drug not to be relialble.

For example one trial that is paraded around as "proof" also has most of the people enrolled also receiving steroids. Well, we already know that steroids have been quite helpful.

Example - you get strep throat. On the same day you start taking penicillin and vitamin C. Next day you feel much better. Do you really have to pause to guess whether or not it was the penicillin?

I'm not arguing HCQ is some miracle drug - what I've seen is that best results are when given along with a couple of others - whose name I forget.
 
Remdesivir manufacturer, Gilead, just set the price for the COVID-19 treatment: between $2,300 and $3,100 per patient. The treatment costs approx. $1 per vital to produce... $1.
By the way, Cuba treats throat cancer with $1 tablets

And people die trying to escape Cuba. Personally Id rather pay $3000 for a pill than be dissapeard by my govt for criticizing them.

If you ready to pay 3000$ maybe it's a good business idea to charge you 6000$? Why not? It is for capitalism and free market!

Suddenly, it becomes PROFITABLE for the treatment process to take longer. It becomes PROFITABLE to prescribe unnecessary examinations, procedures, and medications. And the poor people become UNPROFITABLE and useless. There must be some scientist who can prove scientifically that such useless people must be... what's the word... eliminated. for the good of society, of course.

It appears as is the case with several drugs this works for some and not with others.

Until consumers stop demanding it, then it becomes less profitable to do so. Yay capitalism!
