The evidence is abundant that social distancing, masks, testing, contact tracing etc gets the virus under control. We see it in South Korea, New Zealand, New York, Rhode Island, I could be here all day listing examples. The evidence is also abundant that the failures or refusal to take action results in the virus spreading faster, which overwhelms hospitals, and drives up mortality rates (New York, Italy, Brazil, Texas, Florida, etc etc)

Protests aren't spreading the virus. They're outdoors, enough people are wearing masks and using hand sanitizer, and so on. There's abundant evidence of that too, including how the virus isn't spreading in protest areas like New York, DC, Minneapolis, Seattle, Portland etc.

And yes, parties, indoor bars, indoor restaurants, indoor churches all spread the virus -- especially when people aren't wearing masks or taking other precautions.

4. It is a national scandal that we still do not have the information in item 3 above.

This Covid-19 is NOT going to disappear, just as the seasonal Flu has not. It is here to stay, and we need to get used to it.

Work on treatments while also doing something I've argued for years for. Find actual CURES. IMO the Pharmaceutical companies thrive on purveying "treatments." We need cures, but cures are a flash in the profit pan while perennial treatments bring in the money.

One would have to assume anyone who is obese, or has any comorbidity factors fits that bill. What I wonder is how one can think that things will work fine given the infection, hospitalization, and mortality rates under a partial shutdown.

I want to know how you protect the vulnerable?

All these people who are not "vulnerable" would be the ones helping the vulnerable - who now are more at risk for asymptomatic spread.

I am a critical care RN who is vulnerable due to age and asthma.

So at a time you need more nurses than ever.....do you take away all the vulnerable nurses out of the workplace? Lots of asthmatic nurses. Lots of older nurses. Lots of pregnant nurses. Where do you put them all?

Do you separate the vulnerable in a family unit?

Christ. You make more chance for contracting the virus, then you put them in a situation where they need more help from people who are even worse chance of contracting covid.


For Christ's sake . Wear a friggen mask. Social Distance. Stay out of bars and other damned crowds. Keep your hands clean and away from your face. If everyone can get their head out of their asses and do these SIMPLE things....we could slow this down to wear testing had quick turnaround time and tracking and tracing could matter. Stop hotspots.

This is not rocket science.

"The desire to work" doesn't make you a sociopath. Even in a pandemic.

"Suggesting policies that guarantees the rapid spread of a potentially lethal disease, in total disregard of the health and safety of millions" is sociopathic.

"Compelling people to work during a pandemic" is not just sociopathic, it's also self-defeating. When controls are lifted too fast, then the disease spreads quickly, and additional lockdowns are required. The more widely the disease spreads, the longer it takes for the lockdown to reduce the spread. We already see that in multiple states and nations.


There is a very good reason why protection for our rights were woven into the US Constitution.

If Trump decided today that he actually cared about the pandemic, started to coordinate testing and contact tracing, started listening to his professional medical advisors, and so on, and actually stuck with it for more than 3 days, I'd be thrilled to recognize his (belated) taking of the correct course of action -- even though doing so will undoubtedly improve his chances of getting re-elected.
