If you are living in abject fear, please watch this.

You have seen many hours of hysterical news, please take the hour to watch a rational person talk about this and think about it. The fear is unhealthy and can lead to illness.

This is a conspiracy free video. Just facts.

I didn’t watch the video, but there is obviously not enough fear in the US to get people to do what is necessary to tame the virus as other countries have done.

You are wrong. The video covers so very much. You should watch it. Why comment from ignorance? Oh yeah, he covers that at length too.

I'm just supposed to believe someone named Thomas E. Woods Jr. on YouTube?

That YOU recommend it makes it a no-go. I'd rather sick a pencil in my neck.

The only thing we have to fear is the rank stupidity of our fellow American Quovidiots.

It's a lecturer giving a speech at a college.

Riiiiiight

Woods is an extreme libertarian, so far gone that he actually works for the Mises Institute. He's also a founder of a neo-Confederacy group.

F*** that guy. I'm not giving him any clicks.

If you want to summarize his argument in your own words, go right ahead.

If by qouvidiots you mean the pro mask, pro vax crowd, I completely agree. The most unscientific zealots I've seen in decades.

Not facts and not conspiracy free.

Here are a list of his "sources" he mentions that specifically support his argument that "lockdowns" are unnecessary:

The Daily Express
Daily Express - Media Bias/Fact Check

And some dude on Twitter named "el gato malo"
https://twitter.com/boriquagato/status/1261705308302270466

The rest of sources are links to news articles by Reuters, Unicef, and CBS published early in the pandemic making extreme predictions.

That extreme predictions were made in the beginning does not change the hard facts of the COVID-19 pandemic we all have to live with in the present. Lockdowns mitigated the spread of the coronavirus. Opening up too early has increased the spread of the coronavirus and has cost the lives of thousands.

One should not live in abject fear, but we should all educate ourselves on the reality of this pandemic. And listening to the ramblings of one man cherry-picking data that supports his conclusions solely because his conclusion supports yours is not educating yourself.

I do not know anyone "living in fear". Having a healthy respect for something that can potentially kill, and understanding the risks and what can be done to minimize those risks is not fear, it is rationality. What is not rational is going to a historian to find out about medical issues.

If a poster is too lazy to actually write an excerpt of the video, I'm not watching some random youtube video. Sorry, not sorry.

When I looked at the date of the lecture and then saw so many people in class not wearing a mask .. including the speaker himself .. I pretty much knew this was another "the virus is a hoax" kind of video.

One of the things that's added to the pandemic's misery has been the politicizing of mask wearing.

Many people with unresolved controlled-by issues from childhood can react as adults in rather extreme ways, such as "telling me to wear a mask all the time is socialist control of me in violation of my freedoms!". And then pretty soon, because they're tired of wearing a mask everywhere, they start to conjure up fictions like "hardly anyone is dying", "the left is withholding approval of potential cures", and "it's all a conspiracy with China and WHO and the Democrats" .. and pretty soon they've convinced themselves there's no virus or it isn't that bad .. and they stop wearing a mask ... .

Folks, it's a pandemic, the virus is, by current calculations, 16.57 times intrinsically more deadly than the flu, older and infirm people are at severe risk from it, and our leaders are just trying to cope with this unprecedented situation and keep us as safe via masks and hand sanitizer and yet economically sane as possible so keep working and wear that inconvenient mask.

Sure, mistakes have been made. But many have been corrected. Everyone's just trying to do their best in this bad situation.

But there's no conspiracy here, no socialistic agenda with masks and quarantines etc.

The challenge is one that all Americans face, whether left, right, or center: to stay safe as can be .. without going broke.

It's a finesse of a fine balancing line that everyone, from medical experts to economy experts, is grappling with.

Hopefully it will all get figured out as soon as possible.

But what if it is a good video?

Nope, I've requested back 10-50 minutes of my life too many times for random youtube videos.

Why don't you comment on it yourself? I live in the sticks and pay for how much bandwidth I use in my satellite internet access so I sure as hell won't watch an hour-long video just because you say I should.
Give me the long-story-short version.

Oh, okay, gotcha. Ignore my previous post.

Anyone here living in fear????

Clue: anyone can post anything on YouTube, opinions are like...…..well you know, we all have one.

Nevertheless, lots of fear around.

FDR: The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

DJT: The only thing I have to offer is fear.

It's a lecturer giving a speech at a college.

Donald "Fredo" Trump, Jr. gave a speech at a college.

Jeffery Epstein gave a speech at a college.

Hillary Clinton has given speeches at colleges.

Speakers at colleges and universities can be informative, motivating, and hopefully often thought-provoking. Giving a speech at a college in and of itself validates little to nothing.

I watched it in the background. If people's intent in college is to get an education, this video is the antithesis of that. I will sum up the points:

  1. Those who take the virus seriously secretly harbor hate and project it by telling others they must hate group X for not doing Y.
  2. The stay at home orders were initially to flatten the curve, and everyone spoke about it like it was gospel to either save lives, reduce hospitalizations, or both.
  3. Flattening the curve then became yesterday's news and quaint to bring up.
  4. Acting to save lives is effective as soon as it saves one life according to Cuomo, who is the worst leader in all of this in the world according to Tom.
  5. Science tells us too many different, contradictory things about COVID-19, so it cannot be trusted. We predicted Japan would fail even though they wear masks, but it was because they wore masks that they did not fail, so clearly the mask theory is bogus.

I will stop there. You get the idea. It is the same insanity we read day in and day out on these forums from people who essentially think the virus is a hoax or overblown. Instead of multiple people spouting off about it, we have one ignoramus telling us all of it at once. A lot of people on here could save themselves time posting by just putting this video into their posts. Then we would all know that they were hopelessly lost and not waste our time trying to explain the reality to them.
