Really, really sad story.

RIP.

That's a real shame. I read about his situation when it was first reported and was shocked at how things went downhill for him. What was surprising at the time was that it happened to someone who wasn't in the demographic to suffer this kind of issues.

"In March 2020, Cordero was diagnosed with COVID-19. His wife reported that he was in critical condition, on a ventilator, and being treated with dialysis and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).

On April 18, 2020, his right leg was amputated as a result of complications from his illness. As of May 1, 2020, he had major lung damage and had not regained consciousness after being taken off sedation. By May 13, 2020, Cordero had regained consciousness.

On July 5, 2020, after 95 days suffering from COVID-19 symptoms, his wife announced his death via an Instagram post at 6:05pm PDT. Cordero died surrounded by family at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was 41 years old."

This is bad news. Before he became ill I had never heard of him or his wife. Somewhere, somehow, I read a post by his wife updating everyone on Cordero's situation. His wife's devotion and hope were something I could not ignore. I made it a point then to keep track of his progress through her posts. I followed for almost a month. But for the COVID he was a man truly blessed by an incredible wife and a new son.

May he be free from pain and suffering. May she find peace.

OMG. This disease is horrific, utterly horrific.

Saw an interview with his wife and they were bravely fighting the virus. The poor guy loses a leg and next they were talking about a double lung transplant.

But I sadly knew he would never survive a double lung transplant.

Poor guy was just trying to hang on . RIP.

Yes, very sad indeed. Did he have any underlying medical conditions? I didn’t read that he did.

I read the report on one news source and he had all sorts of things-ampuation etc, but the report was rather enigmatic-you couldn't tell if the Covid caused all his problems or he had all these problems and on top of it covid. They spoke of numerous strokes, a pacemaker etc

OMG. This disease is horrific, utterly horrific.

And yet we actually have people in our country hoping they get it.

I'm not sure how dumb you have to be to realize that there could be horrible long term ramifications for those with this virus 10 or 20 or 30 years down the road.

Thank God Tom Hanks survived!

tons and tons of older folks have pre-existing conditions. it's very interesting to see if their views of this thing have changed since Trump's first comment about it.

Yes, these were all COVID related complications. One of the things COVID does is attack the blood vessels, leading to clotting off of arteries. This is what leads to heart attacks, strokes, kidney failure, and cutting off of circulation to the arms and legs, requiring amputation.

COVID is what led to the need for amputation in Cordero’s case.

I could not find any underlining medical conditions until he got Covid 19 .
He thought he may have been exposed to the Covid 19 on plane trip but who knows?

Apparently , When he went to the ER he thought he h ad pneumonia and then he tested positive for Covid 19.

He had complications due to Covid 19 and had clots in his leg.

They used blood thinners because of clots and as a result needed his leg amputated.

From an April 20 article:

He is hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he lives with his family while performing in "Rock of Ages."

"They had him on blood thinners for the clotting, unfortunately the blood thinners were causing other issues," she said Saturday. "The right leg will be amputated today."

yeah I know but this guy was 41. Most of the reports are talking about those over 70. The average age of those who died in Italy was 81. that is a couple years past the US Life expectancy

College football is gonna ruin it for the NFL. No way college's should be allowed to play this year.

Now that the NFL is just another political organization calling for the death and defunding of police, I certainly hope the NFL is ruined.

We know why.

Rest in peace.

True, he underestimated the lunacy of the American electorate.

True, he underestimated the lunacy of the American electorate.

Trump was the perfect storm of Fox News playing on people’s misunderstandings and fears, Russian propaganda playing on American bigotry, prejudice, and other latent fault line cracks in American society (which I think even most Americans were surprised to find they were there. It just goes to show how much more Russian intelligence knows about us than we do about ourselves), a really quirky system of the electoral college (which was designed to prevent certain problems, but it certainly creates many others), Donald Trump himself playing to the anxieties of rapid globalization and the resulting loss of obsolete jobs (with no real plan other than promising that he alone could fix it all. All those Carrier jobs in Indiana still all ended up going to Mexico anyway), and just dumb luck.

Can lightning strike twice? Yeah sure that can happen too.
