I'll wear my N95 mask no matter what anyone says and I sometimes wear one of the cloth masks under it.

It's better to be safe than sorry. I think a PM 3.5 mask would be good enough for the general public. Of course, older folks should be more careful, and people who have other medical issues.

Why did the CDC not recommend face masks in 2009?

How many damn times are we going to have to point out that facemasks are to protect OTHER PEOPLE? Will 1,000 times get the message through to you guys? For this purpose the above table applies.

And you were misleading even about masks for the general public - for those at risk in a crowded setting, "Avoid setting.
If unavoidable, consider facemask or respirator."

So this is a troll post, or one based on ignorance, deliberate or not. Try again.

Why did the CDC not recommend face masks in 2009?

Viruses (usual influenza, ebola, etc) normally have the common courtesy to wait until the host is symptomatic before being transmissible. Why is this important? If a person looks like crap and is hacking and spewing...common sense will have the person self isolate (go home go to bed) or people will see the person is sick and go above and beyond social distance.

Covid is an asshole. Covid has no social graces. It is perfectly happy spreading itself around when the host is asymptomatic and looking and feeling good.

Masks protect other people from you. Essentially wearing it takes for granted you may be an asymptomatic carrier.

Correct. The CDC has always strongly urged the general public to NOT use masks. They did so for covid-19 too - all the experts did - until covid-19 became a for-profit-of-the-super rich 24/7 bio-terrorism political campaign.

Then the same experts said "everything we've always told you about masks were all lies. For years we have all lied to you - so believe us now when we tell you we all have always lied to you."

And indicating a lower IQ than someone with Down Syndrome, most people fell for it because they are like kindergarten children and TV their teacher. They are desperate to be able to repeat what the propaganda teachers on TV say. If the teacher said the exact opposite the next day, they will furiously and proudly repeat it - ranting against anyone who quotes what the teacher said in the previous classes.

Most people are not individuals and desperately do not want to be. They want to fit into the little box they are assigned to exist in. That is success in life to them - to be the correct mindless nobody. Nothing else matters to them. Life is just one foot in front of another, for which NOTHING is more unthinkable than thinking for themselves.

Masks spread virus and bacteria to others and harms or kills the wearer.

How many times are you going to post the same "damn" lies? You left off the #4 and #5 footnote conditions to wearing a mask in large settings:
1. The mask must be fitted to the person (this also requires the person have no facial hair and strictly shave every day).
2. Do NOT wear an N95 mask

Try another lie. You just got caught on this one.

I've posted those dozens of times. People just keep chanting the slogans and stupid analogies they were dictated on TV and in blogs.

You post a lot, so I don't really feel like searching your history for the sources. I've heard these claims made multiple times on this site, but I haven't seen any that weren't backed by right-wing sites/blogs.

Nope, your chart is with known or suspected swine flu in closed spaces. Table 1 specifically says community and crowds, face mask NOT recommended.

No link I have provided has been to blogs. It has been to medical associations, formal protocol studies by the medical community before covid-19 politics, and the CDC.

You can read the CDC recommending NOT wearing a mask in the link in the OP of this thread.

Note to Joko. Don't pull a used mask from the hazardous waste container marked "Used Ebola Masks"

It also says only "FITTED" masks and no N95s. I have not seen ONE person wearing a "fitted" mask. Anywhere, not one, not in any photo. None of the talking heads on TV, not of the so-called experts who have contradicted themselves on everything, and not one politician has every worn a fitted mask.

"Fitted" mask means the same as a suit tailored to you. It is fitted specifically to YOU. You may NOT have ANY facial hair and must be very clean shaven too for the mask to fit tight.

Crappy masks, homemade masks etc are worse than nothing. They do not contain virus. They spread it to others. They do not protect the wearer. They harm the wearer. N95s not only are less than worthless, the harm the wearer in many ways including increasing extreme oxygen deprivation as the mask is holding more moisture for wet exhaled air. Oxygen deprivation not only reduced brain function, it causes blood pressure and heart rates to soar, while crippling the immune system and every organ.

Anyone who believes cloth blocks virus is an idiot. Anyone who believes dramatically reducing oxygen intake, increasing co2 intake, and increasing inhaling virus and bacteria is protecting anyone really is a non-thinking gullible fool.

Hell, everyone knows it too. At least half of people I see who do wear a mask pull it BELOW their nose so they can breathe - making the mask nothing but a virus and bacteria collecting (and growing bacteria) and spreading method putting virus and bacteria into the air every they go.

I have always tended to stay away from strangers, never directly touch public surfaces like door handles, and most definitely stay away from people wearing masks. Mask wearers are disease spreaders.

Notice how NONE of them will listen to the CDC recommending NOT wearing masks. Democratic lawyer-politicians are their medical experts.

Again, I'm not about to look through hundreds of your posts for specific links. It's tedious to do over and over again, but if you're here to convince people, you need to cite your sources when asked.

Their current recommendations is to wear a mask for COVID-19, which I don't believe are politically motivated. I'm not going look at recommendations made over a decade ago for a completely different virus and use that to discredit what they're currently recommending.

I refuse to wear a useless face mask that causes oxygen deprivation.
It does not stop a virus in or out.

it shields others from your aerosolized saliva and discourages you from touching your face. it is utterly impossible for you to suffocate by wearing a piece of paper over your mouth and nose.
