Officials in New York are threatening fines and said subpoenas are being issued to a group of partygoers to compel them to speak with health officials about a gathering that could be responsible for a cluster of coronavirus infections.

The party occurred in mid-June, according to media reports, in Clarkstown, N.Y., just north of New York City, where as many as 100 people were exposed to the outbreak.

The host held the party despite exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, county Health Commissioner Patricia Ruppert said at a Wednesday news conference. At least eight people have been infected and have refused to talk with county investigators.

I forgot about that. ALL of the rioters can go free but teenagers at a party must rat out friends or be fined $2,000.00, Do not pass GO, and go straight to jail.

While those we have videos of throwing paint on statues or looting? Pshaw!!! They are just "protesters". We can't touch them. That is "racist". Let's go after white teens who refuse to rat out friends and hang up on us. The NERVE of them! They must be Republican fascists. Hang up on ME!!!?? I am a Health Commissioner. Face masks, fealty to the BLM organization, eliminate harmless statues, keep silent, ...

This I agree with you both on. I said yesterday that protesters and/or rioters who disobey social distancing and mask mandates should be tracked through contact tracing, fined, and quarantined just like anyone in any other social situation. It should be done after the protests and/or riots to avoid making a volatile situation worse, and a subpoena sounds like a good method to address it.
 
COVID19 cases are on the rise, the experts say.

I don't have a problem with the State of New York taking such minor precautions.

Have you ever been involved in a court case of any sort?

As a general rule, subpoenas don't come from elected officials, except maybe in the context of criminal prosecution, since DAs are often elected.

Testimony in a criminal or civil proceedings but according to the article neither is taking place to quote "no one is in trouble"

But I do. I have been deposed several times and avoided a subpoena once but finally relented. Not a criminal case. All these had to do with my line of work. I was just unaware of the extent of the Gestapo system we operate under. I imagine some DMV employee could subpoena someone if he wanted, too. But, I imagine you are all for this government of China stuff.

But I do. Drop it. You are belaboring a point needlessly for some stupid point that it is an everyday occurrence for a health official to threaten teenagers with subpoenas. It is unbecoming. Stop the charade. Everyone detects it.
