PRESIDENT Donald Trump on Friday announced that the U.S. will cut ties with the World Health Organization amidst the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. "Because they have failed to make the requested and greatly needed reforms, we will be today terminating our relationship with the World Health Organization and redirecting those funds to other worldwide and deserving, urgent, global public health needs" Trump said from the White House Rose Garden. The president has made blaming China for the coronavirus outbreak a large part of his response to the pandemic, which has killed more than 100,000 Americans as of this week. He has also accused WHO of being a "puppet of China."

Trump again withdraws from another worthwhile global organization. The WHO battles many diseases all around the globe.

Apparently Trump would prefer to fight such diseases right here in the United States rather than abroad.

But it's downright deadly having Trump at the helm when a dangerous germ invades our shores.....

The WHO is a tool of China. Have you not been paying attention of how they did China's bidding and downplayed the Pandemic?

Thank god for Trump that did pay attention.

Not sure how I feel about this. On one hand, we give way more money than other countries ($450 million annually to the organization, while China donates about $40 million) and I think WHO is on the corrupt side.

Instead, the WHO decided to stick disturbingly close to China’s official positions, including its transparent cover-ups. In place of a pandemic that is bringing global destruction, just maybe we could have had a few tragic local outbreaks that were contained."

This mission-driven WHO would not have brazenly tweeted, as late as January 14, that “preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel #coronavirus (2019-nCoV) identified in #Wuhan, #China.”

Why the World Health Organization Failed - The Atlantic

On the other hand, it's obvious Trump is using this opportunity to deflect any blame he has in all of this.

Anyway, it's not a done deal as what was said is "if the World Health Organization does not commit to major substantive improvements within the next 30 days, I will make my temporary freeze of United States funding to the World Health Organization permanent and reconsider our membership in the organization."

So they have 30 days.

er uh PCB, I think you're confused. Trump was doing china's bidding and downplayed the pandemic. And the only thing trump paid attention to was the stock market. He ignored the intel that this would be bad.

I believe withdrawing from WHO is the right thing to do. Tedros Adhanom was really over the top in his praise of China's response to the outbreak, and it was absurd. China is a totalitarian state and used brutal tactics to both keep the world ignorant of the outbreak and then isolate the people of Wuhan, but only after certain residents/travelers from Wuhan were able trot all over the globe and infect millions. China's leadership is a disgrace: a ruthless, brutal and repugnant force bent on expansionism but more importantly, imperialism. Btw, no apology was ever offered by either China or WHO for their lack of transparency regarding an epidemic that has now ravaged every country in the world. The U.S. pays I believer 450 million to WHO, that idiot organization while China pays around ten or eleven percent of that amount, if that. President Trump has done the right thing by severing ties to what he calls a Chinacentric organization, because it is, and it's also led by irresponsible fools that apparently prefer to kow tow to inhumane dictatorships than behave responsibly!! I salute President Trump on this issue!! Finally a President that is defending the free world's position and best interests!!

And you have evidence proving this right? Care sharing it? Like where did WHO downplay the virus? Only one downplaying things was Trump for 2 months... China was deep in the ****ter with Covid-19, so no reason to downplay anything...now Trump on the other hand.

You must belive what was written in that poor The Atlantic article.. Else why post it? And since the Atlantic totally ignores the organisational structure and how WHO works, but pushes a Trump narrative without question. For example, why did China push for a specific candidate? Because the US usually had their favourite that always go elected and China wants curb US influence anywhere they can...simple geo politics. The US has been doing for 50 years and now some is beating them at their own game. That is of course why Trump and his GOP goons are always pissed with international organisations because they can't control who leads them anymore.

The WHO is not a “tool of China”.

The WHO is what its member nations want it to be.

The member nations didn’t give WHO the power to criticize individual member nations.

This was clear with the Ebola outbreak where the WHO wouldn’t criticize the Congo for their abysmal response to it.

If the WHO couldn’t be critical of THE CONGO, what makes you think it could of China?

Nope, but WHO would have been the natural way of distribution of how to make it and of course cooperation in figuring it out.

You’re talking about a President who views the world as a zero sum transactional game and tried to snap up a German company so as to hoard a potential vaccine just for the US.

NOBODY praised China and Xi more than did Trump. He did so while China was lying to us and Trump was being told so by our IS. Trump was praising China and Xi while the data was indicating China had NOT contained the virus as it had spread to another 12 countries. Trump is the Public Health Threat-in-Chief.

It is part of the only real strategy, though it is simply a pathologically personal one, Trump has - Amexit. Getting out of everything not Trump so as to then put the Trump stamp on it.

Biden crackhead son got a billion dollar investment deal from the Chicoms. Obama kissed the ass of the Chicoms every chance he could and that is the reason they were eating our lunch in trade and stealing our technology. Thank god Trump is putting an end to that and is punishing the organizations that enables the Commies like the filthy ass WHO.

By the way, Trump wrote the book "The Art of the Deal" where he says that you should always praise your adversaries because it gives them a false sense of security when you are negotiating with them. Too bad that worthless asshole Obama never read the book. He wouldn't have given away the store to Biden's Chicom buddies.

WHO covered up the Chicom epidemic that resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths in the rest of the world.

They knew what was going on but did not advise travel restrictions, which is what they suppose to do but their Chicom masters told them not to do it. Shame on them! By the time everybody figured it out and put restrictions on China the virus had already been spread.

God bless Trump for defunding the sonofabitches. That also sends a message to the rest of the world not to be tools of the Chinese Communist government.


Other world health organizations will be getting the money so that is a good thing. Thank god Trump is looking after the interest of the US instead of rolling over to Biden's Chicom buddies.
