They did some testing in Indiana, to see how many were infected. About 3% of those tested had been infected. Of those, 45% had no symptoms. The death rate for those who were infected was 0.58%.

Similar death rates have been found elsewhere.

So, out of 10,000 people, 300 are likely to be infected. And of those 300, 1 or 2 are likely to die.

1 or 2 out of 10,000. THAT is what everyone is hysterical about. And that is why the economy is being destroyed. And the interventions to save the economy will devastate the future.

Only people with risk factors should have been isolated. Stores and businesses should have stayed open. This whole crisis has been handled in a STUPID way. And I am not talking about Trump. I mean the experts who advised shutting everything down.

They should have stopped incoming travel at the very beginning. The lockdowns have been pointless. The masks and obsessive hand washing are pointless.

I disagree strongly. Masks and social distancing are the only way that regular people can prevent the spread of this virus.

Pathetic ignorance. We had to shutdown because the President lied and did nothing for six weeks. That's why we had to shutdown. Trump caused it. We could have done like South Korea and other countries, with early testing and isolation and tracing. But we did nothing. We ate Xi's ass for nearly two months while the country burned.

To act like we should have taken containment measures after Trump completely ****ed our country over is ignorant beyond belief.
 
Conservatives/Republicans are literally gonna cause this thing to **** up college and pro football.

So, 100,000 dead Americans means nothing to you? More deaths than the Korean and Vietnam wars?

We still don't know what can happen if someone gets the virus again, or other spikes. How about trusting science and reason first before relying on emotion?

That's confusing 10lbs overweight with being 400lbs overweight.... kinda different. #math

PS the actual death rate #deaths / #confirmed cases is ~6%...which is 600 out of 10,000

Comparing it to Korean and Vietnam wars is just playing games with numbers. A very small percentage of Americans fought in those wars.

What about Governor Cuomo's inaction? Democrats never complain about him, just because he's a Democrat! What about all the other governor's and world leaders who didn't immediate shut down their states or countries?

Because its trumps fault we had to shut down in the first place.

We could have kicked this things ass. It could have been our "Apollo" moment. Brought us back together as a country overcoming adversity.

Trump could have been a hero to the world.

But he was too worried about the stock market and the election so he went with hopes and prayers.

And we all know how much good that does.

LOL... If only 3% of 10,000 are infected it means that 9700 of 10,000 are vulnerable to infection. In other words, as bad as it is now it could get 33 times worse without proper mitigation. Good argument.

And what about all the others? Why aren't you angry at them? Democrats think Cuomo is a superhero, even though his foresight was no better than Trump's.

You don't see why a politician would be reluctant to destroy their country's economy, unless they were sure it was necessary?

You're assuming everyone will get it. Does everyone get the flu every year? I never get flu shots and never get the flu.

Three men go to stay at a motel, and the man at the desk charges them $30.00 for a room. They split the cost ten dollars each. Later the manager tells the desk man that he overcharged the men, that the actual cost should have been $25.00. The manager gives the bellboy $5.00 and tells him to give it to the men.

The bellboy, however, decides to cheat the men and pockets $2.00, giving each of the men only one dollar.

Now each man has paid $9.00 to stay in the room and 3 x $9.00 = $27.00. The bellboy has pocketed $2.00. $27.00 + $2.00 = $29.00 - so where is the missing $1.00?

We have the wealth and the technology to have successfully executed pandemic containment.

Trump simply failed to even try.

It IS a governor's job to deal with their state's health emergencies! So Cuomo is blameless just because he's a Democrat? He had to helplessly watch as New Yorkers died, because he was WAITING FOR TRUMP? He had no legal reason to wait and do nothing.

At the beginning, no one knew what would happen. Some guessed right and some guessed wrong. NOTHING prevented governor's from taking whatever action they thought was best.

Herd immunity keeps you safe.

Are you aware that nobody has immunity and there are no vaccines?

It is herd immunity and vaccines that keep infection rates down to levels that allow folks to avoid seasonal flu.

When everybody who is exposed catches it because there's no immunity and a third show no symptoms at all it will continue to spread until a vaccine is found or herd immunity is attained. Which is about 70% or so of the population.

But since you still don't know that there isn't any point in continuing.

Just so you know, there is no evidence that wishing is an effective pandemic response and viruses are completely do what they do regardless of whether it negatively affects a presidents reelection chances.

They don't watch Fox news or listen to Rush. They don't use the internet.

They just reproduce and spread to new places to reproduce.
