Propublica has a useful tool for looking at re-opening parameters by state.

As you know, the WH has issued general guidelines for how states should reopen, and they were promptly ignored and overridden by Trump demanding everyone open up immediately.

But those guidelines are in place, and the feds dont seem to want to bother to track it, so propublica decided to.

You can see how your state is doing in all the important parameters. Many are improving, few are all green (only two, actually, IL and NY, although many are basically there or close, like DE and NH).

Thanks for the link.

I check the comprehensive info from my state's website every few days or so, but your site is good for a quick look.

btw, Trump has never demanded that everyone open immediately. You shouldn't lie, you know.

Thanks for another great site.

Interesting that IL & NY, essentially the hottest spots in the nation (with NJ) in terms of quantity, are the only ones showing full green. Well when you've been through hell, the only trend is better - right?

But what interests me here, is virtually half the states are showing green for sustained reduced hospital admissions for flu-like illness. Considering I believe you & I now see hospital admissions as the sine qua non of our relative collective covid health, I'm pleased to see this.

BTW, I'll hit you up later with a reply to your post in your Georgia thread.

Thanks for the link. It's great to see the readiness (ICU beds) of each state and the testing information. What I'd like to see are the number of hospitalizations due to COVID 19; the hospitalizations due to flu-like symptoms is rather vague.

The bolded's a fair point. Then again, I suppose it does eliminate testing as a variable. However it introduces another variable! Sheesh!

Note there’s a couple states which aren’t full green, but their pneumonia hospitalizations are zero, so functionally they can’t be dropping to get a green check mark.

Good point. Without looking, I suspect they would be spartanly populated states, where it seems to me the guidelines & operating parameters could become somewhat unique.

Great link, and interesting analysis on the problems with such parameters (i.e., dropping slightly from a high rate is better than a slight rise from a low rate?)

The parameters are the ones set up by the WH.

You can debate on the validity, but the important thing is that its transparent - there are measures in place and this site will track them. I havent seen anything like this from the administration.

And frankly, the communication and response has been so poor I wouldnt expect these bozos to have data like this released publicly.

Churches aren't "everyone".

Besides, he has various court rulings behind him that forbid governors from treating churches differently.

"ASAP" is not "immediately".

Again..."ASAP" is not "immediately".

I really have no idea why you added this tweet.

Moving on...

Ah.

You meant he never technically said the word “immediate” yet certainly implies it multiple times, and almost NEVER mentions safety or guidelines or concerns about moving quickly.

So his cheerleading for opening ASAP is ok because he doesnt say. “Immediately”. Except once.

What a joke

I'm not interested in what you think Trump "implies". If you are going to put words in his mouth, try to be accurate about the words, eh?

I’m sure you have no interest in what Trump implies.

Dog whistles, even very obvious dog whistles, are no doubt something youd like to remain silent for most.

I ignore what others consider to be "dog whistles".

In my state we have more cases and deaths from influenza than Covid. Do we have to shut down now for that?

Yes.

I would imagine that helps with the burden of cognitive dissonance.

I'll leave the cognitive dissonance to you and your ilk. You can always scream at the night sky.
