Covid is "very infectious", stays live on surfaces for days, and no "where are your gloves?"

What's up with that?

Because you can wash or sanitize your hands. As long as you adhere to the CDC guidelines of washing or sanitizing your hands before touching your face you will be fine. Whereas you cannot sanitize or wash the air so masks are the guidelines there.

Did you really think you were asking an intelligent question?

And when that surface is something you just brought home from the grocery, washed your hands, and wont be washing your hands when you are opening the package?

Yeah, gloves are redundant because most people cannot remove them probably, so you'd need to wash your hands regardless. It's better to just routinely wash your hands after you go out.

Disinfect your mask, and keep washing your hands.

Well, we have new information about the Vitus's transmission from surfaces that puts it at low risk.

I would posit that once the droplet it rode onto the package evaporates it's just harder for it to transfer to your hands.

Lots of things are low risk including not having a mask. It is a fair argument that having masks and not gloves isn't the winning formula otherwise it wouldn't still be spreading in places that have mandatory masks.

If you aren't washing your hands after you open a package I don't know what to tell you. Again, this is a simple concept, wash your hands. When did this become to hard for people to do? Do you need a step by step guide for this? I thought it was common sense but I guess not.

I would say that here in California there are a bunch of trumpies that refuse to wear masks, because I see them everywhere I go and one of them torments the 7-11 ladies at least once a day.

And we have an "order" in place here in California.

So maybe it's the disrespectuful that are responsible for the continued spread.

And of course you apparently haven't gotten the word that masks don't protect you, they protect others from you if you are infected.

But conservatives don't care any more about others than they care about all those kids they insist be born but have no interest in after they are.

Are you sure about this? The CDC seems to flop flop a lot.

What appears as "flipflopping" is actually modifying as new information comes out.

If they come out tomorrow and say that it IS easy to get from surfaces then maybe you can make that claim.

But odds are I'm more likely to be right than you are.

SARS-CoV-2 transmits through riding on droplets of saliva or phlegm. It doesn't float around all on it's lonesome.

Droplets dry. It's wait they do.

So it stands to reason that once the droplet dries there's nothing for it to "ride".

I know. I know.

Science is for ******s and the virus dwindled to close to zero in march and was gone by April and all of those who died since then were all crisis actors who gave their lives to hurt trump.

The CDC can't make up its mind about surfaces, but I think, given that we've all read that the virus can linger on some surfaces for up to 3 days, that an ounce of prevention is worth the proverbial pound of cure.

We established a protocol in early March from which we haven't deviated. Shoes left on the porch when possible, spraying down packages and boxed/canned goods with Microban, and changing clothes.

And now that it's been months since my last hair cut and my hair is falling into my eyes, I've noticed how often I push it off my face at the grocery store, so I now wash my hair too after I've been out in the world. I wouldn't even think right now of not being gloved in a grocery store, where I and others are picking up and putting back so many items (and I'm trying hard not to do that either).

Odds are you haven't seen the latest reports. The CDC has revised their message again calling their latest report confusing.

That can you pick up at the store has been handled dozens of times before you get it out of the store. Unless there is a wash basin at the end of every aisle, you will not get it out of the store without it being contaminated.

I suspect it's a larger group that's flouting mask usage; in that are likely those who can't be bothered with the inconvenience. This is going to be interesting to see play out during the summer when it gets uncomfortable to wear one outside.

I've got this cooling material "tube" sold by Mission. Cool rag material. Wear it around my neck. Pull it up when I go inside, pull it down when i get back to my car. All from the outside so I don't have to touch my face.

I wear it doubled up. The cooling properties of the material keep it from getting too hot. Doesn't fog my glasses like most masks do.

I highly recommend it.

And it looks like a scarf or something when its down and an outlaw mask when it's up. High style!

They have this great new thing called a "Web Search." First entry in Google for "CDC Covid-19 gloves:"

CDC: When to wear gloves

For the general public, CDC recommends wearing gloves when you are cleaning or caring for someone who is sick.

In most other situations, like running errands, wearing gloves is not necessary. Instead, practice everyday preventive actions like keeping social distance (at least 6 feet) from others, washing your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds (or using a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol), and wearing a cloth face covering when you have to go out in public.
