CNN "debunks" Alabama beachgoer's theories

I am so angry with these hicks that I hope a bunch get it and die. I'm not kidding.

You should rethink that. Seriously.

They may think and behave the way they do. But we’re all Gods children.

And they very well may need our help.

I liked your post - an archetype of the opinionated person that tells us what the medical science concludes (without evidence) before subjectively lambasting others recreation as "obviously dangerous behavior" (without an objective measure).

That doesn't sound scientific to a reasonable person; that sounds like a 'pull it from your ass' claim followed by a rant based on ignorance.

The evidence is obvious to anyone who owns a television set.

Of course, you could follow the Presidents guidelines.........but I think he tossed them in the trash.

So those are the tools of medical science? The microscope, the panel studies, and CNN!

LOL...

Sure! Trumpster get their “facts” from Dr Oz (whose expertise comes from hosting a daytime television show for housewives), or two quacks from Bakersfield Ca, looking for a gig on a right wing web network.

And from Donald Trump. Trumpsters are absolutely convinced of his genius and hang on every word.

So, an overweight teenager in a too small swimsuit can dispense medical expertise to the Trump crowd! And as one of them as proclaimed, she an “expert” too!

Instead of spazzing out maybe you could answer what I asked.

I notice that CNN chose to focus on a beach in Alabama - hmmm...

Here's another article about crowds packing Venice Beach - wait...that's in the blue state - retract the article quickly...

Coronavirus: Crowds pack Venice Beach on Memorial Day weekend - Los Angeles Times

Here's one about crowds packing a beach in Jersey - wait, pull that one too...

Hundreds of people gathered in Point Pleasant Beach, along the Jersey Shore, to protest the state's COVID-19 restrictions and to demand Gov. Phil Murphy reopen the state.

CNN also needs to stop patting themselves on the back - the reporter didn't "debunk" anything - the woman gave her opinion, and the reporter said that there's no proof of that - there are theories out there supporting the idea that fresh air helps weaken the virus, also theories the other way, but the reporter isn't in any situation to judge...

I kind of question the motivation behind all of this: "OK, guys, let's send a reporter to a deep red state, interview people who look like Trump voters, and make them look ridiculous - and that might get Biden elected without ever having to show his face in public"

Sure, packed like sardines on a beach, not taking any precautions of any kind.....surrounded by a mob all equally irresponsible. But confident in what they are doing because the rest of the fools are doing the same thing.

That woman is a genius.
And all those dead Spring Breakers serving as examples, too! Some people never learn, do they?

Yeah, I enjoy the beach, offseason.

I like the surf when it is a winter storm, but I really do not care for the beach. Never have. Not even as a kid. As an adult, there are other things and other places I would rather spend my money on. I really get nothing from the beach. I prefer to head to the hills.

I enjoy the beach but a little bit goes a long way. I feel more complete in the woods.

But it IS advisable to err on the side of safety until we know more

Why wouldn't people err on the side of safety? There is at minimum a bad bug going around. People are dying. It's not difficult to keep your distance and wear a mask when close to people . I think far too many people would rather prove they are right than to be safe.

Does this article qualify as science in your world? COVID Data: ‘How Could the CDC Make That Mistake?’ - Global ResearchGlobal Research - Centre for Research on Globalization

Ignorance making a comeback, or the duty of civil disobedience?

...and, what is your point? None of this was handled flawlessly. Until Trump, the CDC was highly esteemed. Trump weakened it to the point that it made mistakes, which seems to be the culture of this administration.

Another esteemed organization, the Lancet, a British Medical Journal had this to say about the CDC.

https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(20)31140-5/fulltext

From cite: ".....In the decades following its founding in 1946, the CDC became a national pillar of public health and globally respected...." and "....The Trump administration further chipped away at the CDC's capacity to combat infectious diseases..."

None of that, however, detracts from the core MO of a pandemic: social distancing and wearing masks inhibits transmission which is necessary to bring the virus under-control. The people that snub their noses at this are ignorant fools of the highest order, putting the physical and financial health of their fellow Americans in peril. If we are at war with an unseen enemy, perhaps the argument could be put forth that these people should be shot for giving aid and comfort to the enemy.*

I thought it was a pointless question. Trying to ignore the premise.

There is no question that this woman, and most of the rest of the mob was well aware of the recommended precautions. It really is sad when people work harder on rationalizing behavior that they almost certainly know is selfish and irresponsible, than they would on observing the precautions in the first place.

You are as gullible today Mike as you were all those years ago when we first met.

Global Research promotes independent thinking and analysis. It is the non-mainstream media. It prints and discusses events and facts that your mainstream media suppresses.

That it has no credibility with men like you is very much a Red Badge of Courage.

Shoot the messenger Mike, kill the messenger. It won't change anything, but it does reveal your extreme discomfort regarding the telling of truth.

NBC prints a CDC recent report and your all ears. Global Research prints the very same CDC report and you become all twisted up tight about credibility. :lamo

Same old mantra HD. Same old mantra. They have you hook, line and sinker. Just like Veterans Today. At least that editor admits most of his stuff is false.

So you disagree that any source should be checked. How CT of you.

I think you are correct. Now Taiwan was ready for this virus, everyone followed procedure, and no they only have 19 cases. So much for make America great again. We are killing it, nice a slow.

Well, while I don’t wish death upon anyone, I can think that it would be poetic justice for those proclaiming their freedom to go without masks to be forced to wear hospital gowns.

So your point is that ignorance can be found in blue states as well. Duly noted. Its still ignorance.

That said, since you want to put a blue/red color on this.... there are plenty of red people in CA and NJ as well as blue people in AL. Not wanting to put a color on the actual offenders, but it does seem that the ones that won't take the COVID pandemic as seriously as they should are getting their news from right wing political smut sites, including Fox. If we took a political preference survey of those that are not social distancing at any of these beaches, what do you think we would find?

I wasn’t the one who put the blue/red color on this, CNN did

They purposely sent a reporter to a beach in Alabama to ridicule people who would be perceived as Trump voters

If they had sent reporters to Santa Monica, Virginia Beach, and the Jersey Shore as well that would’ve been different

I have see quite a bit of Venice Beach on television during this crisis.

This is the first time Ive seen the redneck riviera.

Are you talking about My Man Bill Gates? ;)

Weren't you one of those people absolutely convinced Bill Gates wants to kill most of the population of the entire planet because of one powerpoint slide?

That qualifies as "debunked" to you?

Oh certainly not, but CNN seems to think so in their headline. That's why I put "debunk" in quotes.

lol...CNN heads to the beach to disprove beachgoers medical expertise.
hahah look at this leftist idiot get bagged live on cam. Oh and the idiot is also wearing a mask with a breathing vent which means he is an imbecile on top of being a hypocrite. Hes pointing at others not wearing a mask as his own crew isnt wearing any.

Sorry, you're doing no better than the beach goer...well, actually worse. At least one large study has shown zero (or close to zero) infections in outdoor exposure. Almost everyone catches the virus by contact indoors, strongly associated with hvac/ac conditioned environments. Moreover, I know of no empirical study of social distancing or masking, let alone a study that compares their efficacy, nor in comparison to outdoor exposure.

All of which, by the way, contributes to the universal failure of forecasting models in this outbreak.

If you, and millions of others backing the hysteria, knew how little you know then this debate wouldn't be necessary.

Numerous studies have traced cases back to outdoor gatherings of people in close proximity who did not wear mask. There is no sense in attempting to convince deniers like you of the preponderance of such evidence that the scientific community bases such conclusions on. You and Trump know more than Fauci and the scientist that have spent a lifetime in such scientific study. It's a waste of time citing the scientific evidence because you don't accept the science. The fact is Trump has been wrong every step of the way with his prediction of how many will die. Any you deniers keep downplaying from the beginning how serious a death threat is the virus and have been wrong all the way. All the way. Every step of the way.

How did CNN put a red/blue spin on this? They were reporting. The reason they are more interested in Alabama than New Jersey or California is the virus is out-of-control in Alabama and these people are doing nothing to bring it under control.
