Over 180 church goers told to self-quarantine after attendee at Mother's Day service tests positive for COVID-19 | TheHill

More than 180 church goers were told to self-quarantine after attending a Mother’s Day service in northern California where at least one person tested positive for COVID-19.

The person tested positive the day after the service, Butte County Public Health department announced Friday.

The county did not specify which church the person attended, but Palermo Bible Family Church pastor Michael Jacobsen confirmed to the Washington Post that the incident happened at his congregation.

I wonder how bad the COVID-19 fallout from the maskless Repub convention is going to be.

As you sow, so shall you reap.

Hopefully no one burns this church down.

tested the very next day after church services
did this church-goer not have any symptoms prior to church service or did they ignore them and go anyway

And we are surprised... why?

I notice that you created a thread for this story, but failed to create a thread for this one...

Employee at Bradford Walmart tests positive for COVID-19 - BradfordToday.ca

The argument is that freedom of religion is a basic freedom, and people can attend church at their own risk - If you want them to close all churches but keep Wal-Mart open, you've got a Constitutional argument on your hands

Not a big fan of this selective media attention to highlight certain stories and not others to slant everything politically against Trump:roll:

I can't post every possible story but no thanks for the criticism. I wasn't aware of the Walmart story.

This statement, "If you want them to close all churches but keep Wal-Mart open, you've got a Constitutional argument on your hands" is simply false.

Religion has 1st amendment protections whereas Wal-Mart does not.

We have a fallacy of false equivalency.

???

Right (can't tell if you're kidding...) - You just supported the idea that shutting down church services while keeping Wal-Mart open violates the first amendment - that's what I was getting at - sorry if you're being sarcastic, can't tell...

Jacks - sorry, didn't mean that you necessarily did it on purpose, just that the left media keeps selectively choosing articles to highlight to slant everything against Trump

Shops like Wal-Mart are considered essential services because people have to buy food and basic necessities.

A church does not fall under this designation.

Better late than never, right?

Who knows- graveyards are full of stupid people

He doesn't have unilateral authority to declare that for the entire country.
Between him, a very stable genius, and his wife who received an Einstein Visa, well what can one say but scary ain't it

Not at all. You can shut down the church but not religion. You can keep Wal-Mart open because of essential services in the public domain.

Think, please.

Where did POTUS worship on Sunday? Our Lady of St. Jack Nicklaus? People of faith know that a church is just a building. The greatest service ever held was the Sermon on the Mount.

Trump declared them to be. Which is it?

Isn't it the point that whatever the essential service, all outlets of that service must comply with local public health mandates?

Did Jesus protect this flock as they expected? Did Trump wear a mask when he went to Church yesterday or when laying the wreath today?

How did our Leader help to bring us together this weekend and go forward with a coherent plan? ‘Happy Memorial’ Day. Happy COVID Truther Day.

I wonder how bad the COVID-19 fallout from the maskless Repub convention is going to be.

I heard there were more than 40,000 unmasked North Carolinians at the race track yesterday. We had about 100 worshipers at our in-house church service yesterday. We had more than 50 people at our house today in a family/friend holiday celebration.

Life is great here in NC.

All types of Christians, in this case as Churches are always mentioned rarely Mosques-Synagogues and such. Being a Christian, I believe God is everywhere.

I also have no issue with services cancelled, when safe open with SD and masks and disinfecting the place before the next ones arrive for services.

And science is how that decision is arrived at.

You can practice religion without getting together and spread the virus. Getting groceries on the other hand.. I wouldn't care if it was just the worshippers taking the risk but its not. These same people also visit grocery stores etc. Its only temporary and a false equivalency.

Trump announces that houses of worship are ‘essential,’ calls on governors to open them up | Fox News

Trump announces that houses of worship are ‘essential,’ calls on governors to open them up

But he did, even though he does not have the authority to make such an order.

I don't know - I get the feeling that if governors were shutting down mosques, Democrats would intervene

He's enforcing the first amendment

Also, if you guys want to put all the blame on him, not Cuomo, for all the deaths in the NYC area, then you can't suddenly shift power to the governors at this point in the game, just to make Trump look bad

You're arguing that governors were powerless to do anything to prevent the pandemic, but now have complete power over reopening - it seems a bit sketchy
