The Mask Works

With side shields on all four sides?

Or, is it just about you?

No sides- they are that large I do not need them

Says the guy still getting paid. :lamo

Envy, it defines you.

How about: "Says the guy that got a good degree, and put in 25 years at his craft and has a good job working from home, and has no debt?"

You go and have fun driving a truck and living in Louisiana...it works for you.

Coodies can still get around the sides. Good luck not dying because you aren't wearing the appropriate PPE. No telling how many people you'll infect.

You have been blocked

All this hype about wearing masks and nary a one you mention safety glasses/goggles.

I can't wait to watch you melt down while you're standing in the foodline. :lamo

True enough.
I wear a mask when out shopping- keep SD- stores that are IMHO overly crowded i do not go back again- noted 1 the other day, Walmart much to crowded

Not gonna happen. I can retire right now. I made good choices in life.

Envy doesn't look good on you.

I guess I meant an N95 mask that is being used properly. Once its on you are not supposed to touch it, and when you remove it you do so by the straps. It also has to be fitted properly. I heard that first responders have a lower risk of infection than the general public, and thats because of their PPE, a big part of which is the N95 mask.

I don't doubt the N95 is a superior mask, and the mask is primarily being used to prevent you from spreading the virus to others while conversing, coughing, sneezing, etc. While many masks will help minimize the risk of spreading the contagion, it only becomes more effective with proper hygiene and disposal protocols. To your point, first responders would be very good at hygiene and disposal of potential contaminated equipment.

We just got back from a very nice socially distanced weekend. Rode our bikes for 45 miles over two days up and down the beach, and chilled on the balcony. A safe and beautiful mini-vacation.

The fact that seatbelt laws exist proves my point.

until you fight it out in court, the law stands no matter what you think. You're welcome to try to change the law.

Thats true too....even with the N95 mask there is really not a lot of medical evidence (as in double blind controlled studies) that demonstrates protection for the wearer, at least that I am aware of. They are good at protecting others as long as its not the kind of N95 mask with a vent, in which case they are pretty useless.

I am assuming the mask is being used properly. If it is, it definitely protects others from whatever YOU have and may protect YOU from what THEY have.

Driving isn't a right, plus, you missed the whole point.

"Brother, can ya spare a dime?" :lamo

Not for you.

Sorry that you are angry about the choices you made to get you where you are at, but remember the old Republican bromide "pull yourself up by your bootstraps".

Envious- we cancelled our summer vacation, GKids and parents = not taking any chances with their health
With a pilsner or a good bottle of dry white wine?

That's just not true .. a contaminated N95 mask will spread the virus just as quickly. The personal protection equipment is only as effective as the personal hygiene and disposal practices of the individual wearing them. Will it lower the risk of a cough and/or speaking from spreading the disease .. probably .. but as soon as the individual touches the mask and then common locations such as grocery store racks, goods, cash and credit cards .. it's only providing a false sense of security.

diminished security is not total loss of security.

i guess so; thought you were talking about seat belt laws being unfair.

I'm good. You're the one that should be worried about losing your paycheck. I can't wait to hear you go on about begging for government handouts. :lamo

I was referring to American stubbornness and used seatbelt laws to illustrate my point.

Not a full vacation, just 6 hours in the car to the coast for a few days. Restaurants open in CA, but with restrictions, some were real good, we never sat anywhere near 6 feet away from anyone, it was good to pump some $ into the economy, the servers were grateful. I'm looking forward to international travel again, and Hawaii travel again. There was good pilsner at a local brewery, good wine at an Italian bistro. Mostly it was Dos Equis and Pinot on the balcony. CA is much more strict about wearing masks than AZ is, that is fine with me.

You don't understand much, I have enough money to retire now, my company is hiring and is not laying off, nor is it going anywhere bad for a long, long time.

Shouldn't you be out driving and trying to eke out a living?

We did a bike ride from Coronado island to San Diego, second time doing it, we only got lost once this time (keep ocean to your left), then did a ride from Carlsbad to Encinitas along the coast. Such a beautiful area, and so much more fun from a bike.
