Overwhelming majority of publicly traded firms have not returned small business loans: review | TheHill

China’s top diplomat Wang Yi accused U.S. lawmakers of wasting time and ignoring lives as coronavirus continues to spread.

“Regretfully, in addition to the raging coronavirus, a political virus is also spreading in the United States. This political virus is using every opportunity to attack and smear China,” Wang, who is also China’s foreign minister, said at his annual news conference on Sunday, according to Reuters.

He said some politicians have “ignored the most basic facts and concocted too many lies about China and plotted too many conspiracies.”

He's probably correct.

I wonder how close to the 1918-1919 Spanish Flu number of 675,000 deaths we'll get before this either blows itself out or we get it under control.

Hypocrisy writ large!

All of a sudden now we trust anything China says?

Poor snowflake China.

Yes, I do. I believe China over Trump any day of the week. The reason is this. China, if nothing else, conducts business with respect for those they're doing business with. Respect is built into their culture. They give it and expect it in return. When the Chinese see Trump and Pompeo's lies, not only in dealing with them, but in dealing with the American people, they view that as 'hoodlumism' and they don't respect that.

When Trump said "only I can fix it" he believed that by bullying and threatening China, that he would be successful in getting them under his thumb. That's the opposite from what really happened. If Trump hadn't immediately pulled out of the TPP and alienated all of our European allies, he could have used those allies as a united force against China and their unfair trade policies. Instead, he isolated the US economically from all of Europe and it came back to bite our US farmers and steel industries in the ass.

If the US, the EU and Canada had worked together against China's trade practices it would have put China in a very bad situation economically. It would have been a force to be reckoned with. Instead, Trump flew by the seat of his pants and imposed all the tariffs on China and it has resulted in many farms being sold and bankrupted and cost the US economy billions.

With Trump and China, I think rather than coronavirus it's mostly about globalization.

Trump wants to de-globalize the US and is attacking all things global with a wrecking ball.

Multilateral trade agreements, international treaties, global organizations. China is just the most obvious target in Trumps worldview.
