Baltimore pastor rips up cease-and-desist letter mid-sermon: 'We're gonna do it God's way!'

A Baltimore pastor tore up a cease-and-desist letter mid-sermon Wednesday night after local officials threatened a $5,000 fine earlier in the week for holding in-person services.
Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan announced last Friday that houses of worship could reopen at 50 percent capacity, citing declining hospitalizations related to the coronavirus pandemic. He left the timing up to local jurisdictions. The state has had more than 41,000 confirmed coronavirus cases and at least 2,081 deaths.

Stacey Shiflett, pastor of the 400-member Calvary Baptist Church in Dundalk, held a Wednesday night service. With more than 100 congregants in the 600-capacity sanctuary, Calvary was in compliance with Hogan's order but in defiance of the Baltimore County Department of Health and Human Services' order.

Again, the collective ignorance of conservatives defies critical thinking. There should have been a lesson learned from the church that just reopened live services and several members contracted the virus and they shut it down again just 3 days later.

Vayan con dios muchachos/muchachas!

It's important to note that no deity has thus far protected its adherents from getting sick.

People got infected, the virus mutated in every one of them (at the exact same rate) and they all became violently (noticeably) ill in three days? That didn't happen because the virus doesn't work that way.

Where does it say that?

Where does it say that?

The OP claimed a church had to shutdown after being open three days, because congregants of that church are sick, suggesting they got infected at the church house.

From the OP:

"The state has had more than 41,000 confirmed coronavirus cases and at least 2,081 deaths." NOT church related.

Leftist **** themselves over churchgoers...then run off to WalMart and their 'essential' fast food joints. Hell...they even complied with the governors requirements...yet you all still trip over yourselves to expose your petty anti-religious hatred and bigotry.

Sure

People got sick from attending church services. Why didn't their god protect them?

That doesn't prove God hasn't kept people from getting sick. For all you know, without his hand, there could be tens of millions infected in the US.

Must have been the meatloaf they used for the eucharist.

And we can all see his hand..It wasn't washed...

I didn't know you were a scientist but nevertheless it's not really clear what you're trying to say.
Are you saying that Covid-19 mutated in every one of those people at the exact same rate?

I never did but thanks for the info on yer wet wild dreams.

Christians. No complaints about any other religion.

From the OP:

So it didn't say that and you just made it up yourself.

By doing this in such a public fashion, it seems this guy wants to be an example. I think the authorities should grant his wish.

Are you saying that Covid-19 mutated in every one of those people at the exact same rate?

We, most of us anyway, are informed enough by now to know that from initial infection to sick AF takes more than three days.

Are you saying that Covid-19 mutated in every one of those people at the exact same rate?

You're claiming they all got infected at the church house and the church house closed three days later, so they would have all had to have experienced the same incubation time.

They do, however, demand sacrifices.

Christians. No complaints about any other religion.

Not religion so much as specific congregations that are not following the rules. Other places not following guidelines are being highlighted as well.

Why would you assume it is all about Christians? And frankly the churches and businesses that are being vocal about their willingness to screw the public safety rules are making themselves targets .

Since we have no proof of the existence of any god, there's only a specious correlation to be made. I commented because of the pastor's quote: "we're gonna do it God's way!".

some harsher than others...
