Wearing a mask can significantly reduce coronavirus transmission, study on hamsters claims

Only those who are panicking and completely irrational wear masks. The good news is that masks help identify the crazies, so they can be avoided.

I am least panicked when wearing a mask.

Only the morons argue against masks and do not wear them. Out in public this helps identify who are the morons that have to be avoided.

Ignorance for sure, but I am starting to think that some guys think they are either too manly to wear a mask, or they are too insecure, probably both. Women, that jury is still out. Make up or hair issues?

Yep, masks won't fix everything, but they are pretty important right now.

I already have a thread on how a PNAS study found that just 15 seconds of normal conversation releases as many moisture particles as a sneeze, and those particles (under ideal conditions) can stay suspended in the air for up to 14 seconds.
Coronavirus Infections: Talking Can Generate Droplets That Linger Up to 14 Minutes - The New York Times

Not to mention how the nations which routinely wear masks when people are sick and also during this pandemic -- in no small part to stop other people from getting sick --- are faring much, much better than the US.

I wear a mask if I go into a store or some other place where I know people will be present. It may or may not reduce my chances of catching the virus (logic tells me it will help at least somewhat), but it’s not that big of a deal, and if it makes the people around me and the store employees feel more comfortable, I really don’t mind.

Thank you.

I'm going to wear a mask in public until people stop dying from a preventable disease that we should all do our part in overcoming.

And, I will look at people not wearing one as lacking in good sense or the mental toughness to do right.

That's actually completely and utterly wrong.

Those that are wearing masks.. are considerate people that realize that they could have the virus and not know it.. because either they are asymptomatic..or their symptoms are so slight as to go unnoticed, or they may be in an incubation phase.

And so when they wear a mask.. they end up protecting YOU.

People that aren't wearing masks and think people that do..are "panicking".. well those people are inconsiderate, douchebags.

Pretty much sums it up. The people wearing the masks get very little protection themselves... they aren't doing it for themselves. They're doing it for him and the poor schmuck doesn't even realize it.

I always wear mine, even got me a cool looking one that says "this too shall pass". Some other sane people seem to have had the same idea, and we smile and give each other a thumbs up. Not sure what we shall call ourselves. How about the covid fashionistas?

I get the same reaction when I wear my MAGA hat. Lots of thumbs up!

When I wear a mask I wear an N95. I do so to protect ME. I owe no obligation to protect anyone else, nor to expect anyone else to wear anything to protect me. To me that is turning the logic upside down.

Please go back into hibernation

except N95s are hard to get - lots of fraud too. Do research on your producer.

The more time I spend on these forums the more certain I am that there is no cure for and you can't fix...stupid!

Upgrading air filtration in public accommodation can help reduce the spread of the virus.

need a positive pressure system which pushes viral particles out of room and brings in filtered air

Had some prior to Covid and was able to buy more before the US government shut down all private purchases months ago.

instead of shutting down private purchases they should have used the DPA to gear up production even more. We have the capability to let everyone have one.

I agree. My view is that everyone is essential, not just cops and nurses.

Some people would much rather tilt at windmills instead of being helpful and polite to others.

If all the Karen’s demanding people wear a mask were actually being polite and helpful they would not wasting the precious oxygen on such idiotic nonsense. But that what makes them Karen. [emoji2369]
