So Far CoronaVirus Deaths Have't Even Been.....

The 2017–2018 flu season was severe for all US populations and resulted in an estimated 959,000 hospitalizations and 61,099 deaths.
So far COVID-19 confirmed death toll is 97,039. Many at-home and other untested deaths have not been counted.

*Accidentally* compared GLOBAL deaths to US ONLY deaths.

Honest mistake...

...I'm sure.

:donkeyfla

For those who like to consider themselves the grim reaper's accountant, add an order of magnitude to each of these classifications: Active cases, deaths, and recovered.

There aren't enough tests being done for the first one. The other two don't count those that stayed home to die, or get well.

1/4 of who died in the 2017/2018 Flu season

And i'm hearing things are slowing down in NY where about half the deaths were

One, it is not over by a long shot.

Two, thank goodness for social distancing!

The overall burden of influenza for the 2017-2018 season was an estimated 45 million influenza illnesses, 21 million influenza-associated medical visits, 810,000 influenza-related hospitalizations, and 61,000 influenza-associated deaths
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/2017-2018.htm

Sorry, COVID-19 number was global. Current US is 18,009.

What are you talking about man?

CDC: 80,000 people died of flu last winter in the U.S. - STAT

Sorry, COVID-19 number was global. Current US is 18,009.

Yes, I noticed that

So in other words this "crisis" has only produced less than 1/4 of the Flu deaths in 2017/2018 flu season that very few even heard about?

Good. I am glad 97% of people are now on lockdown instead of having millions of deaths in US.

Boy, who needs an Army to defeat the U.S.?

That's a flawed comparison. For one, we won't know the true number of Covid-19 deaths for about a year because we don't have adequate testing, thus at least some deaths are being classified as pneumonia. Secondly, how many flu season deaths would we have had in 2017/2018 had we taken the same measures of social distancing and shutting much of our economy down to curb them that we have with the Covid-19 pandemic? Most likely, a tiny fraction as Covid-19 is much more communicable than the flu and has a much higher fatality rate.

For one, we won't know the true number of Covid-19 deaths for about a year

Well, we do know there is a BIG reduction of cases

The only statement you can make about COVID-19 is "so far", the "season" is not over yet.
State Governors have succeeded (in varying degrees) in slowing the spread with stay-at-home orders.

I am sure enjoying the free eats and cash so let the virus carry on..

COVID-19 is currently the most deadly disease in the United States, beating out heart disease and cancer which previously were #1 and #2. It is killing more people per day than either of those.

Yes, lockdowns and social distancing are starting to show their benefits.

COVID-19 is currently the most deadly disease in the United States, beating out heart disease and cancer which previously were #1 and #2. It is killing more people per day than either of those.

I don't know about that

There were 675,000 deaths in the 1918 pandemic?

We also had way.... less population then

Holy ****!

I should hope so it's on da money...

General Custer thought that way until he said:

" Look at all the ****ing Indians"!!!(Just before he was killed)

Man, if we only had "precautions" in the 2017/2018 Flu season that killed 80,000?

Oh man..

You do have precautions for seasonal flu. It's called a vaccine. Any idea how many flu deaths were a consequence of not getting vaccinated?

Well, we do know there is a BIG reduction of cases

Due to all the social distancing, a massive reduction in travel, and putting our economy into paralysis. It's not like there was some magical reduction in cases. What do you think all of the word's epidemiologists are just full of ****?
