This brings some clarity as to why Trump has been recklessly pushing this drug, despite what the experts were saying....follow the money.

Donald Trump Has Stake In Hydroxychloroquine Drugmaker: Report

The president has repeatedly touted the anti-malaria drug as a coronavirus treatment despite a lack of medical evidence.

President Donald Trump reportedly owns a stake in a company that produces hydroxychloroquine, the anti-malaria drug he has repeatedly touted as a coronavirus treatment even though his experts say there’s no strong evidence it works.

Trump “has a small personal financial interest” in Sanofi, the French drugmaker that makes Plaquenil, the brand-name version of hydroxychloroquine, The New York Times reported Monday.

In addition, Sanofi’s largest shareholders include a mutual fund company run by major Republican donor Ken Fisher, the paper said.

Trump’s three family trusts, as of last year, each had investments in a mutual fund whose largest holding was Sanofi, according to the Times. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross also had ties to the drugmaker, the Times reported.

Trump’s “assertiveness” in promoting the drug contrary to the recommendation of top health experts “has raised questions about his motives,” the Times noted.

of course he does.

that surprises me...not one tiny bit.

Wow. Well, that's in character.

I would not be surprised if so. Trump is an accomplished con-man.

He may make as much as $100, or even more! Emoluments clause! Impeach!!! Impeach!!!

Read my post again and maybe peek at the accompanying link?

I haven't seen any evidence to suggest that he owns an actual sizable amount of stock in this company. He owns a bit of a mutual fund that owns a bit of stock. Along with this, the drug can be made in generic form, so it's not something that will just become invaluable. Until I see some evidence that he stands to make a real sizable amount off of his pushing I will reserve judgement.

I think the reason he's pushing it is far more simple. He's in over his head and he really wants a magic get out of jail free card. It's what he does. He sells people on wishful thinking. And he doesn't care how wrong he is. That's why he claimed we were going to 0, it's why he lied about testing and continues to lie about testing, it's why he said it would magically disappear etc. etc.

Along with a generic company co-founded by trump golf buddy Charig Patel. Trump’s pumping of HCQ started when he first acted on this crisis, 77 days too late. The stock market plunged, but these stocks that make HCQ took off.

Well fortunately, we can confirm for ourselves how small his stake is by looking at his financial statem-

Oh....right.

owned by trustee of the trust, not Donnie :2wave:

I am more surprised he has a three trusts. Those get taxed at the very top rate and Donnie doesn't pay taxes

OMG, did he actually play golf with a guy that invested in that company?

Trump's stake in the drug is grounds for both impeachment and criminal indictments.

Here is a fun exercise for you: Go back 77 days from the time Trump first acted and find me actionable data on COVID-19

From that tweet:

Trump holds between $3,003 and $45,000 of the Dodge & Cox Int'l Fund, of which 3.3% is in Sanofi, the maker of hydroxichloroquine. That is as little as $99 or, at the most, $1,485 in Sanofi, and hydroxichloroquine is not the company's only product. That is not what's driving him.

You're right. That's pretty small.

Hell, I'd be surprised if Trump even knows about it. Most people don't know exactly how much their investment funds invest in what companies. He just knows he has a few thousand in that fund.

It's not like he's telling people things are okay while selling off millions in stock.

But Trump was going to drain the swamp by not playing golf; drain the swamp by not inside trading.

The names mentioned in the link you didn’t read are MAJOR donors to Trump and the GOP.

I’m not part of the Intel agencies that briefed Trump on Dec. 31st. Did you see the White House memo today from early January warning Trump of the possibility of millions of deaths from this pandemic.

They also can't seem to grasp that there is no exclusivity to the manufacture of generic medications. They are making such horrendous leaps of logic built of pervasive ignorance that you have to assume they are being stupid on purpose.

So what you are saying is that you don't know what was said, but you want to pretend like you do? Thanks for the confirmation.

So, why was the WHO claiming that COVID-19 was not a high risk of human-to-human transmission if January?
