Chloroquine Is Not Trump’s First Rodeo

Yeah, at this point, if personal profiteering isn’t behind it then his obsession with hydroxychloriquine makes zero sense.

When hydroxychloroquine fizzles out...and it looks increasingly like it will...Republicans will pretend that their bizarre obsession with it never happened.

No. HCQ is the new ‘wall’.

It keeps the people arguing about the little stuff do they forget the abject incompetence with which they prepared for this.

Typical Trumpian distraction.I doubt if anyone is making significant money off a super low margin drug.

Trump supporters line up behind hydroxychloroquine for cult reasons, but for trump it’s 99.99% likely that it’s about profiteering.

It's simple. He needs to be correct about something. He can't be Uber Trump if he's wrong about everything all the time. But if he came up with the medical solution, despite the advice of doctors and the medical world; well... That's not a lucky self-serving guess. It's evidence that he really is Uber Trump!

That's what his base needs. Evidence of Uber Trump. They'll ignore the fact that it was a lucky self-serving guess. They ignore the fact that Trump broken-clocked it. They'll claim it's proof that Trump is smarter than all the doctors and, thus, his bigotry must also be correct.

That's all it's about. A "win" for Uber Trump.

Exactly right, except for "abject incompetence". Trump has been extremely competent at boosting his personal business fortunes and those of his children, lowering his taxes and enriching himself. Leading the country was always just a minor side line.

Are there any other potential treatments you guys are hoping will fail? And, thinking about the future, which vaccines are you hoping will do more harm than good?

The Trump family have investments in Sanofi, the French manufacturer.

No one is hoping any treatment will fail.

There is actually a difference between not having enough information to know if something will work and pretending something will work without adequate testing because you are so obsessed with a politician.

I really don’t think so. It’s about false hope and distraction.

Tell this lady about false hope and distraction.

Lansing — State Rep. Karen Whitsett, the second Michigan lawmaker from Detroit to test positive for COVID-19, is urging people to take the virus more seriously and is crediting hydroxychloroquine for helping save her life.

On Tuesday, her doctor prescribed her hydroxychloroquine, the anti-malaria drug that's being studied as a potential treatment for COVID-19, Whitsett said.

"It was a choice between going to the hospital and never coming out and getting my hands on that medication," she said, adding that "It literally saved my life."

She credited President Donald Trump for the availability and popularity of the drug, noting the administration had touted the drug at the federal level as a potential treatment for coronavirus.

"Hydroxy"-chloroquine and Chloroquine are actually basically the same medicine. The "hydroxy-" part was added as a chemical modification of the chloroquine molecule in an attempt to decrease the risk of side effects. One of the biggest ones is blindness.

It would not be good if this medicine is used, has no effect in decreasing the mortality of COVID, and we end up with a large number of blind people in our country on top of that.

Thousands of people take this drug daily for lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. Covid-19 patients will only take if for a couple of weeks. The only precaution doctors recommend for people taking it daily is an annual eye exam.

It's possible that people are using the treatment specifically because it's being hyped by the trump administration in spite of the fact that it hasn't been shown to be effective through any clinical studies.

To say that it's effective because people are using it is like saying that Trump University wasn't a scam because people were scammed by it.

No thanks.

This is going to be another Trump University. And when everybody finally figures that out, republicans will pretend that the entire scam never happened.

That is a perfect example of quackery. There is no reason to think the drug did anything for that women. 80% recover from it naturally. Trump is a quack now too. Is there any despicable behavior he doesn't exhibit?

There are 55 clinical trials throughout the world on the use of Hydroxychloroquine to treat Covid-19, so it looks like a lot of governments and universities don't think its "quackery".

That is what those trials will determined won't they?
