China is donating 1,000 ventilators to New York

"Thanks, China, for the ventilator I need because the lung-ravaging, cytokine-storm inducing reaction my body is having in response to the Wuhan virus which you unleashed on an unsuspecting world won't allow oxygen to get across my alveoli and provide it to my awaiting hemoglobin unless your machin pushes it across and even then, I'm probably too far gone but all the same thanks..."

I am placed in good company, Hamish. The lying, fascist Chinese government is responsible for a campaign of lies, obfuscation and deliberate misinformation that has resulted in thousands of deaths and untold economic damage to the United States. They then had the gall to kick out independent American journalists out of their country. And then they are treated to vast reservoirs of goodwill in the immediate aftermath of their criminal behavior because one of their ranking members are arranging the bringing of ventilators to our shores.

Jack Ma is a ranking card-carrying member of the Chinese Communist Party, and is not doing this out of the kindness of his heart. He is trying to rekindle goodwill, which appears to be working like magic on some members of the American press who are quick to put aside the lies, murder and repression he represents with all the forgetful trusting credulity of a newborn babe.

You mean like Jan 1 when they reported the disease to the WHO
Or Jan 8 when they analyzed the genome of the virus and reported to the WHO
Or on Jan 23 or so when they quarantined Wuhan, followed shortly by Hubei, followed by strict shutdowns of large gathering in the country

China did not want to shut down the country on a few reports of people getting sick in early December. China did waste 3 weeks or so but recall that reported cases of a new disease was less then 30 at the time.


China had 6 weeks to respond to the virus before it shut down its economy and still suffered from the lack of early action. South Korea took the data from China and responded. It took the genome information and made a testing kit that worked and tested lots of people. It was able to take the information China provided and limit the infections and deaths without a lockdown

The US did not take the information that China provided in early Jan and do something. It waited for 2.5 months before doing anything. The same for Europe.

Had they taken the early warnings seriously like South Korea did, then the issues we are facing would be less. Instead we said herd immunity will do it, it is just a Chinese disease it wont effect us

I would think that when China quarantined Wuhan then Hubei, just perhaps the US, and Europe should have taken it seriously. `

Why? China ****ed up early on. No doubt about it. But then when the world saw was this virus was doing, how it was impacting people, how it was spreading, and far more information was known, so did we.

You can point fingers all you'd like, but China made dumb decisions based on little information. America made the same dumb decision after being well informed.

China destroyed evidence, punished whistle blowers, lied to the WHO knowing that people around the world would trust them when they said THERE IS NO HUMAN TO HUMAN TRANSMITION.

This isn't even in the same ballpark as a "mistake" or little whoopsie.

The press holds Trump more to task for not wearing a mask than they do China for lying, covering up and destroying evidence.

Donald Trump is responsible for failing to respond adequately and properly to the crisis. But he did not engage in organized deception through organized state-controlled media organizations. He did not threaten, arrest or "disappear" whistleblowers. He was grossly negligent, incompetent, and willingly ignorant. But he was not intentional in his failures. He is the incompetent firefighter. China is the intentional arsonist.

I think Acadia is right. Too many Western Media go from being critical and distrustful of China to suddenly saying what a competent government China has and how good they were at tackling [X, Y or Z] problem forgetting every abuse they committed just moments before. The best analogy would be a brainwashed victim of habitual domestic violence who returns to her abuser. Or perhaps an Alzheimer's patient. Perhaps as a blood-red socialist, you may agree with me, because I think such a sudden about-faces comes down to one thing: Money. I suspect many of the news organizations that was hagiographic about the Chinese government and repeat CCP Ministry of Culture talking points are either sponsored by Chinese-owned companies or those companies which are dependent on trade with China.

The Chinese government and its representatives (which Jack Ma is) should be treated as though they are always lying when there is no independent third-party verification. Especially after Western News organizations have been ejected from China. And any news outlets with an ounce of dignity and integrity should treat Chinese governmental spokespersons with openly deserved cold distrust or at the very least harsh and exacting skepticism.

And they seem to conveniently forget that China threatened to cut off the supply of medication to us! In the midst of America suffering in the grips of the Wuhan virus!
But throw a few pallets of medical equipment our way and we're even. No, not just even, we are INDEBTED to the magnanimous commie country.
