Acting Navy secretary blasts ousted aircraft carrier captain as 'stupid' in address to ship's crew - CNNPolitics

CNN)Acting Secretary of the Navy Thomas Modly blasted the now-ousted commander of the USS Theodore Roosevelt as "stupid" in an address to the ship's crew Monday morning, in remarks obtained by CNN.

Modly told the crew that their former commander, Capt. Brett Crozier, was either "too naive or too stupid" to be in command or that he intentionally leaked to the media a memo in which he warned about coronavirus spreading aboard the aircraft carrier and urged action to save his sailors.

The acting secretary also accused Crozier of committing a "betrayal" and creating a "big controversy" in Washington by disseminating the warning so widely among Navy officials.

Betrayal- The crew was betrayed due to lack of action by you

Next- US Navy incidents which resulted in the deaths of Sailors, investigations held, then the CO/others would according to evidence be disciplined or not

Yet hen accidents occurred, resulting i a number of Sailors deaths due to poor training, over tasked crews. What happen to the higher levels of oversight- Sweet **** all (SFA)

You were in the chain as the Navy had many of these

I am sure of what the crew thinks of you and none of it is positive

Why have people like yourself not been fired for incompetence?

Thomas Modly - Wikipedia

Modly served as the managing director of the PricewaterhouseCoopers global government and public services sector and as the firm's global government defense network leader. He has served as the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Financial Management and as the first executive director of the Defense Business Board.

He was nominated to become Navy Undersecretary by President Donald Trump in September 2017 and was confirmed by the U.S. Senate two months later.[5]

He's right. Crozier is stupid.

I'm sure this is good for moral in the Navy.

I'm sure this is good for moral in the Navy.

Oh I am sure it will do wonders for poor morale.
Moral down, make it worse- show the Sailors you cannot plan and act quickly, referring to the Carrier, then trample the mans reputation

Old story but true

Our Minister of Defence was visiting a number of ships in Halifax.

As the MoD went from ship to ship, so did a certain Bosun.

He answered questions from the Sailors, moved to another ship.

On and on

On the last ship the MoD went, Bosun stated he had a question.

Sir you have answered a high number of Sailors questions, but I have not seen anyone taking notes

All this Modly guy had to do was nothing at all, and instead he chose to do this.

What makes you think morale in the Navy is low?

MTE.

I believe in the chain of command. I have no clue what lead him to do what he did.

At the very worst, he likely did what he did because he feared for the safety of his crew. Essentially "taking one for the team".

He at worst did the wrong thing for the right reason.

Modly just looks like an ass.

Every sailor in the navy now knows the SECNAV does not have their back if their ship gets coronavirus

Bingo.

It's the same chorus Kim Jong Un expects of his sycophants. Trump opened up his pie-hole and beaked off where he shouldn't have so his underlings are tripping over each other to "Me too! Me too!" sooner and louder than the toady beside them.

What makes you think it is high

Because we have the highest quality military in human history. I have the utmost faith in our servicemen. Now, back up your insulting claim.

Every sailor in the Navy that isn't a piece of **** knows that Crozier violated three very cardinal rules of the service.

Hey guys the SECNAV wont just let us all get infected....will he? Lol

Holy Moly.

Uh. I'll take "How to utterly delegitimize your own attempt to provide civilian leadership in one fell swoop for a thousand, Alex"

If True, what ****ty - ****ty - leadership.

Never do this. Even if you think it - even if you believe it with every fiber of your being.

Looks like Morale in the Navy is about to go through what Morale in the Marine Corps went through under Obama when we had Commandant He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named ****ing everything up and then blaming the Marines for it.

Did you go to school for that/ morale school??

I know you are big on schooling.

Even schools for 1 issue things/diseases and such.

Oh so many single Certificates

Myself I prefer a well rounded/fact/science based education.

Big world out there- damned big- get out and explore- oops C19 disaster under Trump prevents a lot of that

"If he didn't think, in my opinion, that this information wasn't going to get out to the public, in this day and information age that we live in, then he was either A, too naïve or too stupid to be a commanding officer of a ship like this," Modly said. "The alternative is that he did this on purpose."

This was a correct statement. As the Commanding Officer of a vessel he not only submarined the Chain of Command but he deliberately sent his email messages to reportedly over 20 other people, which indicates either intent or stupidity. Dont know the man, so I wont assume which it was.

Yeah, Modly reached new levels of stupidity here.

It makes me grateful that I was fortunate enough to have good leadership during my ten years in uniform.

I knew the Capt was screwed and sacrificed his career - how it works (sadly at times) - For this POS to slam the man, go ahead defend it.

How will his comments, attacks on the Capt. impact on Sailors moral. Positive or negative??
