Racist laws continued until the time of our parents. It takes generations to recovery from slavery and then decades of racist laws.

Our grandparents were college educated. They gave us money and sent us to college. Their grandparents were slaves and their parents, as a result, unskilled labor. Slavery is still with us.

Do you understand that taxes on black people, their income, their family and their lives, built this country?

Do you understand those taxes continue to hold black people in disproportionate poverty? It's not something a population recovers from in a couple generations.

Do you then understand how claiming the taxing of white people, to right historical wrongs, is not white people being victims? Achieving proportional power helps everyone by maximizing society's potential.

Proportional power and wealth. 13% is justice.
Does that proportional power and wealth extend to all racial, religious and ethnic groups? If some are deemed to have too little then obviously others must be deemed to have too much - after all, that is the way power and wealth (re)distribution works.

Yes. There are disproportionate power majorities in sex, orientation and religion. To be a member of any power majority is to experience privilege. I'm a member of every power majority (not Christian but I could fake that if my life depended on it). I hit the privilege jackpot: White, male, hetero. And I landed (with wings from heaven) in the superpower. Life on a silver platter.

Well, one power majority I'm not. The economic power majority, the 1%.

We might note: Context is global. Members of the power majority can escape sub-context.

I gotta admit, I'm surprised it took this long for this thread to show up. A few days ago someone started a thread wondering why a "demographic" breakdown wasn't available and I was sure race was about to be brought up then.

One question- is there a blank on a death certificate for 'race'? One more question- if Barack Obama or Tiger Woods dies, how will that blank be filled in?

Blacks are more likely to live in intergenerational, multi family unit dwellings. Blacks are more community driven. Blacks live in higher density, populated areas. Blacks are statistically more non-compliant in their response to healthcare advice. All of these transcend black's economic condition.

Correlation and causality are two separate things.

    Holy ****.

There are literally three sentences from that story, with absolutely NO data on who is getting sick and dying under what circumstances.

April 6 (Reuters) - Early data from U.S. states shows African Americans are more likely to die from COVID-19, highlighting longstanding disparities in health and inequalities in access to medical care, experts said.

In Illinois, black people make up about 30% of the state's cases and about 40% of its coronavirus-related deaths, according to statistics provided by the state's public health agency. However, African Americans make up just 14.6% of the state's population.

In Michigan, black people account for 40% of the state's reported deaths, according to data released by the state, but its population is only 14% African American.

Thats it. You dont know where they lived, if they were already in poor health, if they were elderly, if they received early treatment, if not why not...we literally know nothing about this other than a few sentences.

We DO know that black Americans face a higher mortality rate due to health concerns, violent crime rates, poverty rates, etc, so would it be that surprising that they might be impacted? No. Does that make anyone or any system racist? If so...who are the racists? Black Americans in major cities typically live in areas with majority democrat leadership, majority democrat led police forces, majority democrat led social services agencies.

But **** it...lets all shriek racism and tear each other apart without bothering to figure out what is and has been causing the destruction of black American communities. Because seriously...beyond using them for political gain, its not likely anyone ACTUALLY gives a **** about them.

Nobody reads news articles anymore... unless of course, they're written by Crap News Network.

They saw the word "racism" in the O/P and went right into their faux identity politics' shtick.

I have been appalled since November of 2016 at how so many people let politics run their life. This virus thing and the reaction to it, especially the way politics STILL plays a leading roll, has turned that in to being horrified.
