Coroner: 1-day-old infant dead from coronavirus in East Baton Rouge Parish | TheHill

A 1-day-old infant died as a result of the novel coronavirus in Louisiana's Eastern Baton Rouge Parish, a coroner reportedly confirmed.

Coroner Beau Clark said the infant died Monday, local station WAFB 9 in Baton Rouge reported.

Clark reportedly added that 27 people in all have died in the parish as a result of the virus as of Monday.

I doubt that this 1-day old was at Mardi Gras but the idiots who packed the French Quarter in N'Awlins did a fine job of infecting each other in droves.

Is this Trumps fault too?

Thank god we are still purely anecdotal on child deaths

Anecdotal? This is a coroner's report. No one is safe regardless of age.

Did the mother have Covid as well?

It seems unlikely that death from COVID-19 exposure could happen within 24 hours (or less).

How long does it take to show symptoms after you have been exposed to COVID-19?

Symptoms could appear as soon as two days after exposure to as long as 14 days later, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). A new study led by researchers at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health provides a median time of about five days. That is why the 14-day quarantine period is used by the CDC for people with likely exposure to the new coronavirus.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A one-day-old girl has died from complications due to COVID-19, according to the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner, Beau Clark, M.D.

Clark says a pregnant mother was admitted to a Baton Rouge hospital on April 1 with COVID-related symptoms, including shortness of breath and fever. She was placed on a ventilator and tested positive for COVID-19.

The mother went into pre-term labor and delivered her daughter prematurely at 22 weeks. The baby did not survive, Clark says.

So the infant died of complications from the mother's COVID-19 infection.
