Trump promotes use of drug for coronavirus: 'I'm not a doctor. But I have common sense' | TheHill

President Trump on Sunday forcefully touted the use of hydroxychloroquine as a potential means to combat or even prevent the onset of symptoms from the coronavirus, wading further into a medical debate that has put him at odds with some of his top health experts.

Trump said the government has stockpiled 29 million pills of the drug, which is also used to treat lupus. For a second consecutive day, he suggested even those without coronavirus symptoms might consider taking the drug despite limited evidence about its efficacy in treating the virus.

"What do you have to lose?" he said. "I’m not looking at it one way or another. But we want to get out of this. If it does work, it would be a shame if we didn’t do it early."

Trump may have (some) common sense but his multiple bankruptcies cause me to doubt that. But he has no medical or scientific background & yet he's hawking a powerful & untested drug that ultimately may do more harm than good.

Especially to the people with lupus who are now struggling to get the medication they need and the misconceptions Trump is making with the drug and about people with lupus.

The narcissist that it is, trump will NEVER accept responsibility for making an error.

“What do you have to lose?”

Well, as a couple trump supporters found out the hard way, your life.

He made the statement that he was surprised by the numbers in New Jersey. Really? That says a lot about his common sense!!

The virus will sweep the country over the next weeks. States like Utah who have no yet put a stay at home order will be hard hit.

Some people gather facts and proof and then come to a conclusion.

Some people come to a conclusion and then find ways to make their conclusion seem true.

Trump decided this is right. Now he has to make it true, facts be damned.

Can't attribute this to s specific health care worker so it remains anecdotal but...'we are treating people right now that are currently taking hydroxaquiline (sp) for Covid. If it works, it doesn't work as well as we would have hoped'.

Obviously the generalization I am going tomake now is fictitious, but this drug promotion he is on fulfills the two of the three requirements for involuntary manslaughter. 1-An act that results in death without the intent to kill, 2-Acting with reckless disregard, or negligence resulting in death.
